I believe it's the later. They just like to switch up how they lose.

Catching the Rangers doesnt seem like an outrageous ask. 6 points back with the same # of games played. Not impossible, but I'd feel alot better against the Devils compared to the Hurricanes or Bruins.

I dont recall ever playing the same team 3 times in a week in a regular season before...just playoffs

Pretty remarkable the all time franchise record for PIM's is only 1050 with some of the bad asses we've had over the years...Watson, Caufield, Ulf, Rissling, Stevens, Buskas, Loney and on and on. 1050 was about 3 decent years for Schultz or Probert.
