Thank you, Bill.
Think there's any market for Hayes this summer? |

The Bolts are gonna be pissed...look out!! I guess Torts isn't the only coach to use the 3rd period benching strategy to wake up his top players? Or is Cooper just another archaic coach? |

they are weak down the middle and more importantly, he is a mbumhole - corduroy I get the part about him being a M ass hole, but he isn't gonna help them much if they think he is still a #2 center cause from what I see he isn't. I mean, the Flyers have no centers and he's currently playing the wing. I guess if Bergeron and Kreji retire they will need some serious help though. I forgot that they may retire after the season especially if they win the Cup this year.

This is the real question to be asked. There’s no path to improvement until the current gm is gone. The team needs a direction but I don’t want this guy charting the course. |

Imagine being 5 years into running a company and it being in total shambles and not getting fired? Simply amazing.
As long as the Bully whisperers (Barber, Clarke, etc.) are around and allowed to have influence, this franchise is doomed. Briere getting hired would just be an extension of the crap situation we're in. They need to clean house but that will never happen. We're closing in on 50 years without a Cup and I feel like I'll never see one in my lifetime. Sad times. |

Zero faith Fletcher can trade Hayes for any sort of value, zero. If you're only trading Hayes to get rid of him and retaining salary plus taking back another bad contract, what is the point of trading him? To get more cap flexibility to sign another terrible free agent contract? Just eat the cost for the next three years. Not like they're going anywhere in three years anyway. |

I imagine some of these players stumbling into the locker room between periods like Reg Dunlop mumbling.
"200 foot game....gotta be hard to play against, culture change, block shots, North south game....play the right way...."

Buyout, salary-retained trade, bad contract in return... the Flyers put themselves at a disadvantage in every one of those scenarios -- compounding the mistake of signing Hayes in the first place.
And, like you said... they don't have the C depth to not replace him.
All just to make Torts happy.

If Fletcher can get that return in a Hayes trade (without retaining any salary) it might undo every horrid move he's ever made. In essence, never gonna happen.
Of course, if it does happen, Roslovic will immediately replace Hayes in Torts' doghouse and will be healthy scratched every time they visit Columbus. |

Best way to get out of this is building through the draft. The Flyers cannot bail themselves out of this mess with a trade, cap space or a major signing. |

Yeah if the Flyers could swing it. I would love to retain $2mil and get 2nd or 3rd back. To me that would be ideal. Shed a good amount of money and at least get something useful in return.
I would not trade him if it was like the Atkinson-Voracek deal. I want to shed salary or just keep him. |

He already embarrassed himself at the trade deadline, next up drafting a stiff.

The only way that happens if if they replace Jarmo w/ Milbury this summer.

ROR being out indefinitely already is kinda vintage Leafs. They have a lot of Flyers in them. Then of course they have Marner and Matthews. |

retaining is not putting themselves in a bad position to me. They are not contending in the next 3 years in any way. Hayes at 50% should get a good return. Should the key word with this GM doubtful. a 40-50 point complimentary player for 3.5 is very good value.
Now should they trade him to appease the coach is another issue to discuss.

For everyone that thinks that the Flyers are 5 years away, this may not be about making Torts happy but rather will he be any good by the time the Flyers are? There’s a few guys that could be moved this summer if Fletchers thought process has changed. |
