Would love to see them find a way to save Matthew Robertson from the NYR Depth Chart of doom. Or better yet, reacquire the ghost of Simon Despres by somehow swindling Vegas out of Hague….

McCabe would be a great pickup...does Hex think Dumo needs to go though, is the real question?...Sully doesn't, his usage and deployments tell us that....

After four years of Mr. Wilson calling for the trade of Brian Dumoulin the time is right. Until this season there was no replacement or plan for his departure.

I don't think Hextall is married to Dumoulin. It's a real possibility that he could send Dumo packing this season. I think it gets done. As a matter of fact, I see Ty Smith sticking with the team now. Joseph has shown he can play at this level. Pettersson has taken the leap to top pairing. The only reason you keep Dumo now is if we get hit with even more injuries to the defense.

The other night watching sullivan continue to send dumo out shift after shift reminded me of the movie money ball. art howe would not change 1st basemen so billy beane traded away carlos pena so howe would have to play hatteberg. the only way sullivan will change his pairing is if dumo is traded.

But heinen and kappy getting 5-7 minutes per night? dressing 7 d instead of DOC playing as the 12th forward? he has got to give the top 6 less minutes. they will be baked by april if he doesnt change the shift distribution.

if they trade dumo for a conditional 6th, i am ok. the pens need the cap space and better production on the back end. its a win by subtraction. i really thought dumo may come back re charged this year. nope.

Kapanen and Heinen have been placed on the line with Carter. Poehling is skating with Blueger and McGinn. I'm not going to say one is the third line and the other is the fourth line because quite frankly I don't know which is which. Let's just go with offense and defense lines.

Dumo is a drop of water in the penguins pool of problems right now. Biggest concern should be getting Archy healthy and firing the coach who should have been fired 3 years ago. Then you have to implement a new system that allows aging players to play to their strengths. Then find a replacement for Dumo.

Interesting idea. I'd kind of like to go cheap and young at LD and just push that money into forward and Jarry's raise. But McCabe is certainly a more proven option than POJ.

Petry is going with them on this road trip but because of LTIR not elgible to play until Sunday...so it looks like he will be playing vs the Yotes on that day. This is good news.

He is a more proven option and if you can keep POJ further down the lineup vs more favorable matchups he will be more effective. I think a few teams might be interested in McCabe, he's pretty steady and solid.

I think Jake McCabe would be a great option. Especially if it isn't a high cost and they take Dumo. I think he would be a solid option for our team at D and would definitely be an upgrade.

I wanted them to sign McCabe when he was a UFA, would be nice if they actually had interest in him.

I've always loved Dumoulin as a player but it's time to move on. If it actually takes just a second round pick then they should make that deal today but i think Chicago will definitely want more than that for a solid top 4 Dman who is signed for two more years. Pens could pick up some salary. Even throw in a prospect.

I dont know about you guys but I kinda like a Pens team just outside the playoff standings early in a new year....they aren't comfortable....everyone from management to the coaches to the players think some things need to be changed....tightened up...

Pens could be playing playoff hockey before April and into it before the actual playoffs start....mid season adversity make things uncertain....more interesting...for this guy, anyway

Not really trolling when it’s the truth though is it? Sometimes I give Geno unwarranted grief, not so much the case right now. But let’s discuss a Dumo trade that will never happen.

I’m kind of hoping for missing the playoffs. Then at least the hand is forced to make some changes. Sids got another 2 years in him at least. Keeping the status quo of boring hockey limping into the playoffs is just tired at this point.

This potential scenario with Dumo for McCabe has never ever been, or that I'm aware of, discussed here before...your one liners about a guy with 34 points in 37 games, a top 100 player of all time, are beyond worn out...and funny enough not many, or any, of those comments from you when he's on multiple game point streaks.

Some people around here that claim to be big Pens fans seem to really enjoy when they're not doing well, like their horrible takes and opinions are vindicated or some sh!t.

It's really not a bad thought, but I believe Hextall will need to make a move or two to get this team into contender status and I'm really concerned He won't do it. Letang and Petry will be back so I'm not too concerned about the D, but I hate that third line. Carter, Kap and Heinan won't cut it. They'll get caved.
