Personally I don't mind the loophole that much. But yes it's being abused. At least for Tampa Bay the guy sat out the whole year. The reason this is getting out of control is Vegas is just putting guys off and on the list at will to fill the roster instead of building a team under current rules in my opinion. They picked up Jack eichel in November and didn't make a single move to address that cap space for when he came off injured reserve. |

I mean, they did try to trade Dadonov at the deadline to address the cap situation. But unfortunately, for them, they royally botched it and screwed themselves over. |

The NHL is a joke, bush league. As long as it continues to be run by these clowns, it will never be taken seriously on the same level as the NFL or NBA |

A tax that looks like offer sheet compensation when the playoffs start. Based on how much you're over total roster cap, you forfeit picks. In this case if you dont have the required picks, it is the pick of the next year that the team owns and can only project out 4 years.
For AAVs below $1.35654 million, there is no compensation
From that number to $2.055364, the price is one 3rd-round pick
From that number to $4.110732, its one 2nd
From that number $6.166096 its one 1st and one 3rd
From that number to $8.221463, it’s one 1st, one 2nd and one 3rd
From that number to $10.276829, it is two 1sts, one 2nd and one 3rd
Over that number, it is four 1sts
Teams can then gamble with their futures to win now. I'm sure this could be worked into something useful to prevent this loophole. |

That doesn't help either. The cap exists to limit player spending and ensure the 50/50 split. |

It's a moot point this season, as Vegas will be outside the playoff cut line. |

The first thing that has to be considered and understood is what the cap is for and what it does. Why we had a lockout.

"A perception problem" —are you kidding me?
That's one of most arrogant, condescending things he's ever said.
I wish there was a real alternative to the NHL. |

I'll be the first to admit that I don't really have the answer. I do know though when I read a suggestion that is also not the answer. I have no problem with legitimate use of LTIR. The issue to me is when a team like Vegas uses LTIR space gained from players who are temporarily going to be on LTIR to acquire a huge contract like Eichel's with cap space that they essentially don't really have. In the situation with Kucherov. When was he fully healthy and ready to play? If it's two weeks before the season is over, then that's when he should be activated. If you can't, then the player should be ruled ineligible for the playoffs. They need to differentiate players who are on LTIR temporarily versus players on permanent LTIR.

If a city like Winnipeg won 2 cups like this in a row - and fans in tampa and arizona were pissed - the NHL would put a rule in RIGHT AWAY. That's how F***ed the NHL is. Always happy with the cup staying south of Iowa |

So, dont allow it (somehow), or keep allowing it and penalize teams that do it somehow. |

this is a JOKE!!! same as tampering!
remember the BLUES when the professor Ron Caron lost 6 #1's and Stevens for shannahan! I don't see any difference!
Tampa should be losing a huge amount of #1's here for this and this is going on for multi years now... |

This needs to be fixed and make the rule real simple. The team you ice has to be cap compliant in the playoffs. |
