Hains: Game 28: The Loss Everyone Wanted
The Canadiens lost another one last night, but that was the wanted result as it allowed Marc-André Fleury to sign his 500th career win, at home in front of friends and family shutting out the Habs 2-0.

thanks Karine, excellent as usual. that was fun to watch.
"The Coyotes aren't going anywhere," said Gary Bettman, adding "well, they're going someplace else in Arizona." #NHL
Yes, because moving them 50 miles will surely yield better results.
Idiot. - stinger67
from an external point of view I guess it looks better for the league if they add teams via expansion, which is a sign of growth, rather than moving teams, which makes it look more financially vulnerable.

Also, they are not going to allow Arizona to move because of the size of the media market. The NHL has done everything in their power to keep it there, while letting other franchises move when in similar situations.

Reached out to City of Glendale manager Kevin Phelps for comment on Gary Bettman's comments that Glendale has an agenda in dealing w/ Coyotes. His response:
"If Mr. Bettman and others want to believe that not filing 17 monthly tax returns was due to human error, then so be it ...
"... as a reminder this was the same excuse the team used when they failed to pay some of their employees in a timely manner. Glendale does not have an agenda. We just want assurances that the team pay all of their obligations to the city in a timely manner ..."
"Our approach is based on our actual experiences with the team. Perhaps the League will be willing to guarantee that the city is fully paid by June 30th, 2022."
I should note that, prior to publication Wednesday evening, I did ask the league if they were willing to guarantee any future liabilities for the Coyotes. They did not respond.
Sounds like grifters and/or financial woes... how long before someone is asked to step up and invest capital into this team, yet again?
Or maybe they just need to hire someone less forgetful in accounting?

Atlanta was a bigger media market than Phoenix and the NHL threw in the towel there after about a decade.
