Hains: Game 17: Petrified in Boston
The Canadiens started well tonight in Boston and then, as per usual went into hibernation for the 2nd period before coming back to life only to commit hara-kiri in the final frame. |

I think Ducharme mentioned that Drouin had received the green light to come back, but it was his decision to not play....? wtf... is there ever anything clear with this team? |

when your best line is Lek Evans Armia... you're in trouble.
when Chiarot is your best scorer among dmen... you're in trouble. |

How long is the Ducharme experiment going to continue for? When is the Bergevin era going to end? I expected this team to not be very good, but this is comical. |

Which is eerily similar to when he had his wrist injury 2 seasons back. |

I know, thanks captain obvious...
my point is that the habs always seem to be so frickin' dubious when it comes to concussions/head-related injuries, the fact that the team doctors said "go ahead" while he doesn't feel good enough to come back is kinda weird.

meh, I know their track record is not good but in this case I don't see what they could have done differently. doctors looked at it, waited a few days to make sure, and they didn't find anything. the player doesn't feel good enough to go. what else can they do or say? |

there isn't anything more they could've really added, I just find it odd that a doctor would give the green light to a player when he's saying he still has headaches or still experiencing other side-effects after the incident. I'm no expert but it doesn't really make sense to me to take such risks and let the guy play despite the fact that he doesn't feel 100%, head traumas can be very unpredictable. |

but that happens all the time, not just for hockey players. often people feel sick and doctors can't find the problem. good thing Drouin has the final word as to when he'll play. he's supposed to be back for next game DD thinks. |

I get that, but that's kind of my point, I find it's rather unprofessional to be making such a call when there are so many unknowns about how the brain works and how its healing process develops. my 2 cents. anyway, as you say the important thing is that he's able to make the call himself I guess. |

well, giving a red light when they can't find anything would also be unprofessional

no, because then at least you're not taking any dumb risks by sending the guy back on the ice after he mentioned he still has headaches or whatever... anyways, on tourne en rond en osti là

he looks really tired and frustrated, I think he wanted to be a stabilizing presence on the backend in Weber's absence (as he was able to do a while ago) but ended up over-thinking about everything and taking too much on his shoulders.

something is definitively wrong. didn't check the stats but I'm pretty sure his PP TOI is way down. is he still injured and can't shoot? anyway there's something else, he makes real bad decisions with the puck. and that since game 1. I remember mentionning at the time. |

obviously it won't magically fix everything but Edmondson's return would definitely help in sharing defensive responsibilities, and Petry could then perhaps concentrate more on improving his own game, and keeping things simple. but again, the exact timeframe for his return is a total mystery.
