Any word on Rust? - stevens87
Worked out before practice with Crosby, but hasn't rejoined the main group yet. |

Spunoramaed?
Wednesday is bocce night, so my cognitive reasoning may have been off. I thought it was millennial for 'shot his wad'. (Not the original meaning, if you get my drift) |

I have a pretty (frank)ed up sense of humor. I'm never a "too soon" kind of guy or pay much attention to crossing lines, but dude, you are seriously effed in the head. |

The whole thing has nothing to do with hockey culture. That’s the point. It will be spun and turned a million ways to blame some idea about hockey culture though while ignoring the real problem. |

Agreed. The blogger means well but the comments made below are ridiculous.
"I grew up playing hockey and it formed who I am, but some of that I have had to course correct because it was vile. When you're younger you are vulnerable to the buy in of everything hockey culture. I love the sport, but am consistently left embarrassed by it. Hockey is all about culture culture culture, but it is just an empty platitude. The actions have always spoken louder than words. "
The hockey community is a slice of society not unlike any other group of people. Within that group are bad actors and people who make bad decisions and do bad things. Consistently left embarrassed by it? Hyperbole. Blame the people who are responsible for what happened in Chicago and leave others out of it. Speaking of culture, the bloggers statements are part of the bad culture in this country. |

I agree and disagree with you. To say it's specifically hockey culture that does this is wrong, but hockey culture can still be guilty of perpetuating this kind of behavior.

Going to regret even commenting on this on hockeybuzz...
The fact that it happened is solely the fault of one man
The fact that it got covered up even though it was openly known by all the management, coaches, and players on the team and was reported to the NHL PA and that NOBODY stepped in to report it is on a lot of people. If what he did got out there, he isn't in position to do it again. Instead, he's able to get a job around underaged children and do the same thing.
Is that a fault of hockey culture? Perhaps. Winning was given a higher priority. Not a good look his teammates chose to use it as a reason to chirp him.
Same thing about covering up happens at churches though too, so maybe it goes beyond hockey culture. |

No. That’s just a lame catch all. When Penn State was in the news was it football culture? No. It’s (frank)ing weirdo perverts. And there’s too many spineless female genitalias that are willing to turn a blind eye because it’s the safe route in the short term. |

It's not about the incident what I'm saying. It's about how it was handed by Hawk's brass, the teammates and the league. The players ridiculing him for what happened is part of the hockey culture.

Disagree completely. They’re just poopty people. Blaming it on culture takes away some individual responsibility. |

Don't know how you can say this is a "hockey culture" kind of thing when this same story has become pervasive in nearly every nook and cranny of the world these days. |

Things like this occur everywhere, and when there's big money involved, they get covered up. Blaming "hockey culture" is as simple minded and as pathetic as you can get. Is there hockey culture in Hollywood? Wall street? the music industry? in churches? college fraternities? the Olympics? etc. Society in general just has completely (frank)ed up values where money/fame are inherently more important than right and wrong.

If it's 5 people I agree. When it's what 50 or so who know, it's at least an organizational cultural issue. |

When it comes from the league down then it's a league problem, but hey, did you actually think we'd agree on this? lol
