Don't know much about the guy's work cause we don't get the Pen's feeds here in the Philly area, but he must be a smart guy!! He knows a sinking ship when he sees it! Best wishes for a happy retirement!!

In his whole 46 year long career with the Pens there wasn't one Flyers cup win. Almost half a century now. Pretty pathetic, no?

Its nice to see these kinds of posts and know that the Pens live in some people's head rent free.

Have a great day, Phillywhiteout.

Mike Lange is to the Penguins what Gene Hart was to the Flyers. Both great announcers who knew the game so well and were able to let you see the game even if you only listened. Both great people, true professionals, and deserving members of the HOF. Best wishes to Mike in his future.

Definitely gonna miss Mikey doing Pens' games in the future, but the guy has more than done his bit for this organization and city. Best of luck in retirement, you deserve it. And while all of the goal calls RW listed are great, my personal favorite still remains "Buy Sam a Drink, and get his Dog one too!"

I am currious as to what it would puld be like to watch a live game with Mike while he is retired? Would he be quite? Or would he be talking through the whole game? Cause you know he is still going tk watch them....

I haven't watched it in a very long time but, wasn't he the announcer for that John Claude Van Damme movie at the Igloo?

I second what is said here. As a Flyers fan, I didn't get to hear Mike Lange much, but from what I did hear, he seemed to be a gentleman on the air, in addition to his colorful and passionate style in describing the action.

My absolute favorite memory of Lange was in 2005, we were waiting in the student rush line at the Igloo he pulls up in some beat ass brown car and you see a bottle of jack sitting on the dash, then when he got out a bottle fell out of the car as he opened the door and everyone was looking at him and after he picked up the bottle and saw everyone looking at him he just does a fist bump in the air and says " It's a hockey night in Pittsburgh" and everyone just cheered lol!

Classic. He's been known to tip a few. Smoked like steel mill in the 70's.

I started really following hockey Lange’s first season. He had me hooked. From Lucky Pierre and Syl Aps to Sid and Geno. The greats bring joy to the game. Like good seasoning, he wasn’t the show, but always made it better.
