"Calgary might not have a Draisaitl or a McDavid or a Nugent Hopkins or a Yamamoto on their team, but they can take solace in the fact that they have two players who make the top 150 forwards currently in the NHL list.....

Probably."

I love this lol. A little friendly shade. If I had to choose one player from the Flames it would probably be Tkachuk (as much as I hate him) just because the rest of the forwards are utterly useless. Mangiapane seems to be developing into a solid player tho.

What does it say about Edmonton when Flames were 3-1 against the oil prior to the season being cancelled this year?

All kidding aside, if Edmonton had selected Tkachuk over puljujarvi they would be Stanley Cup favourites right now. That i have no doubt...well almost. Goaltending still needs more help

To be fair the month of December was god awful for the Oilers in general and that's when the Flames got to play us. Post Yamo call up/new year the Oil lost in SO and won the next game quite handidly. But you did dominate the first two no doubt about that. Would love to get a playoff series against you for sure. Yeah I think 31 other GM's would take Tkachuk over Jesse right now haha.

It's still Gaudreau, and it's still a pretty sizeable gap. Opposing teams have their shutdown group against Guadreau 99% of the time, and their gameplan is focused on stopping him.

Not to take anything away from Tkachuk, he's great, but he gets a big boost from being on the second line.

Sean how many players the Oilers have managed to ruin that were first round picks, so now you are saying the Flames have above average players. You can stick a cucumber up your ass.

Big meh.

Useful guy, but probably a borderline top 4 defenseman. He doesn't suck, but he's 23 years old now and just hasn't shown any major improvement from his first year in the league.

Think he just might not be very smart.

Clearly BINGO has issues with Hanifin as he has been chirping him since the Caines traded him to Calgary almost 2 years ago. Fact is he is a good 2nd pair D man, good size, excellent skater, durable (plays 82 games every year) and on an excellent contract at 4.95 through 23-24 season. There is not a team in the league that would not value this guy very highly.

I'm not saying he's bad, just disappointed because I thought he would be so much more. He never really improved.

Size means little if you don't use it, and the fact is that despite having all the physical attributes to be a strong defender he really isn't.

Dude is tremendous in open ice, but gets beat in tight and in the corners far too often.

And I was chirping about him before he was traded.

You need to get over the fact that the Caines picked him 5th in the 2015 super draft and realize he is a 2nd pairing guy and is being paid accordingly now. Again there is not a team in the league that would not value Hanifin on his current deal.

He's not a second pairing guy on a good defense.

If I got to pick a player off the Flames, it would be Tkachuk. Of course that may be because the Leafs could use a Tkachuk type player more than a Monahan or a Gaudreau.

I think there's a real case to be made that Tkachuk is the best Flame.

There's a guy who will fill the back of the net, has all the skill in the world, but is generally deficient in most every other aspect of the game (JG), and then there's the guy that can still score proficiently, but can carry the team on their backs through any situation, thick or thin (MT).

I think Tkachuk's hockey IQ and improvisational skill are off the charts, and he will get physical, he will defend, he will get greasy and then he will pull off the most ridiculous skill play that you never saw coming. Gaudreau is high skill, but I think he lacks in almost every other area of the game in comparison to Tkachuk and I don't think it's close.

Tkachuk is my MVP. I like Johnny, but I think his game needs to round out in a big way
