Great article and breakdown!
No question the sting burns terribly deep still from Game 7 but work has to be done with roster.
The Krug trade talk is BS to me. I had to delete Haggs on twitter. He has been more ridiculous than normal lately. He’s a POS!
Anyways if the Bruins want to see their biggest X factor, the PP, immediately decline than they trade Krug. He is the engine behind the PP no doubt about it. However Charlie is ready to be a QB. Creates a dilemma for sure.
I personally think you keep all the important dmen, don’t trade them.
Would love to resign Mojo at the right price.
Would he take 5 mil? I know it’s unlikely they can fit him in but would love to see Don get creative. He was outstanding in the playoffs. Total surprise! |

Depending on the term I think he could take $5 or a little over. But unless the Bruins load more salary, it's unlikely they could even swing that. |

I really like Kevan Miller when’s he in the lineup. But he could be sacrificed. As well he just can’t stay healthy.
That would be a start I guess. Also at 2.75 there would be some takers one would think for Moore. |

Moore's cap hit is certainly an easy one to take on, but with four years remaining, that may halt things a bit. |

Buying out Backes doesn't make a whole lot of sense in my opinion. A trade opportunity may present itself or he becomes the 13th forward.
Also I wouldn't resign Heinen. Not with Kuhlman, Senyshyn, Frederic, Cehlarik, and Bjork all vying for spots. |

Love the guy but that signing was a mistake from day one. Personally I would have rather kept Eriksson as he would have been a better fit for where the Bruins were going at the time (skill vs. brawn). Basically same price and same term. Really, wouldn't (didn't) like either contract but if forced between the two, my choice would have been Eriksson. |

Heinen can’t get no respect. He needs to find his confidence in the O zone but he’s a really good player. I could see him scoring 30 riding shotgun with Marchy and Bergy. I’m also ok with him being a good 15 goal guy on the 3rd with Coyle. Dude does ALL the little things coaches love, that’s why Butch never sits him |

He's not a total loss but he gets pushed off the puck way too easily. It's a rarity that he wins a puck battle. |

It was a horrible contract but I’d still take Backes over Eriksson. Backes fit in really well in the room and had a lot of respect from other players. You could argue he made a pretty big impact in the Toronto and CBJ series with his physicality

I agree with that. I think he’s better with his stick than you’re giving credit for but he can’t fight through hits. I know he’s not super young but I think there’s still a chance for him to get stronger |

Anthony Travalgia: Interesting offseason awaits
The Bruins have several key free agents with not much cap space available. - Anthony Travalgia
To Boston - Zajac 50% retained (2.825M AAV for the next 2 seasons), Bostons 2019 2nd rd pick
To NJD - Boston 2020 1st Rd, Backes
Boston saves 3.175M AAV, trades down from a 1st to a 2nd rd pick, and gains a great shutdown 3C on the cheap.

If they shed Backes it will be something like this that gets it done. Similar to the Lehtera trade we had to do a few years back to get out from under that contract. |

keep in mind the expansion draft is coming , which 3 defencemen to protect. it might be time to trade krug at his peak and protect mcavoy carlo and grz ? |

Honestly, I understand he is not a flashy player but Danton Heinen is very underrated. He can play with anyone and is a smart hockey player that generally works hard at both ends of the ice. He is only 23 years old. If he works on his finish and gets stronger with the puck he has potential to be a very good player that can play anywhere in the line up. He was snake bit a lot this year and I fully expect a bounce back from him.. I think it was a confidence thing.
God damn. I am ready for hockey to be back and its been one week. |

Only place he's going is the first line, cause he's got 30 written all over him. Smart player, needs to add 10 pounds of muscle.
Move Pasta back with Krech.
Kuraly also has the jam to be a top six forward imo. |

Bruins signed Backes 4 years too late, and they will be forever trying to find a new Cam Neely, such a rare combination of skill and size, but the thought was trying to get a big looch-Horton type for Krejci, and how'd that work out. What they need to do is trade Krecji. He's very replaceable, but teams will see a perceived value in him.
Anthony, love those breakdown charts. Can't believe how little saving they get if they buy him out. |

First of all, cause all hockey players get a "y" a the end of their name...
I don't hate Heiney, Heiney is sometimes great, but there is no consistency. Heiney gets behind the play, He's part of the bottom 6 that cant make the push for the next level, if he did, they would have never traded for Johansson |

Should sign Perry.
I don't think we're hated quite enough.
I feel like he'd add to the mix.

I’m not sure Kuraly has the offensive ability to be a top 6 guy. At least not at center. I think he’s one of those guys who can shutdown the other teams top line though. Like Marcus Krueger before he sucked |

I'd give him a spin at 2LW or even 2RW, shooting with speed on what he's shown to be his strong side.
We're pretty strong at C.
Need more scoring depth at wing.
JD is ideally a 3LW, slotted with Coyle.
Or Maybe Coyle can play top 6 winger? He's got a nice touch.
The fact that everyone but Rask are centers doesn't hurt when it comes to shuffling guys around up front.

With his NMC expiring on July 1, Backes is eligible to be sent to the minors next season. It saves more cap space (1.075m) than buying him out. Unlikely, but is an option. |
