Repost since it's kinda the topic...
Think there could be something done between Flames and Panthers that could benefit both teams.
To FLA : Brodie
TO CGY : Tippett, Reimer (1 million retained)
Florida gets a reasonably priced top 4 d-man that allows them to move Matheson for forward help if they want, and clear salary + roster spot to sign Bob as a UFA.
Calgary gets the young goalscoring RW they lack, and a G they can platoon with Rittich at a fair price (2.4 million).
Maybe add a mid-round pick or B prospect going FLA way since they retain some $ on Reimer. |

That's way too much to pay for Reimer. He's gotten worse for three straight years. There are plenty of goalies as good or better than Reimer that could be brought in for half that. The Flames need to stop spending bad money. Paying Reimer $5 million for the next two years is bad money.
The only way the Flames are helping Florida unload Reimer is if they're taking back Neal. |

Agree with Hunkulese on this one.
Reimers numbers are less than stellar and I think we will have other comparable goalies to choose from for 1 year x 1 mm.

Thanks Todd!
Any chance of more compliance buyouts with the next CBA? Might be worth giving Neal a year to rebound and then either trade or buy him out. Best case scenario is that he rebounds and then Seattle wants a "leader". But I do not think we can be so lucky as to have that happen 2 times in a row.
I see Engelland is a UFA and the Knights are cash strapped. Might be an option for the bottom pairing. |

His worse statistical year (this one), he's still posted a .900 save pct. 91,3% and 92,0% before that. Pretty darn good. And that was behind Florida's leaky defense, which won't be the case in Calgary. Also, I don't think the Flames are gonna find a suitable 1B tender for less than 2.4 per. Even Smith might go for more than that.
And it's not like it's Brodie for Reimer straight up. How about Tippett? |

You get rid of Neal, get a goalie and top 6 winger |

Dont need to get rid of Neal that badly that we give up a potential young top pairing Dman. Not gonna happen. |

We can get better value from Brodie. Florida is more motivated to move a goalie & i like the Stone for Reimer but would still want Florida to retain salary. Then we have a backup with found money (Stone's). |

I could certainly get behind a Stone vs Reimer trade. I doubt Florida would be interested though, what they lack is a true top 4 on the backend, not an overpaid bottom pair one. |

Neal R. Andersson - nyrangers9479
As soon as Andersson's name comes up Treliving's hanging up the phone. Andersson is the reason the Flames can afford to trade one of Brodie or Hamonic (more likely Brodie). Young defenseman that have top pairing potential don't grow on trees and it would have to be a pretty ridiculous offer to get him out of Calgary. There's a reason Treliving immediately shot down any trade request involving Andersson or Valimaki at the deadline. They are likely the Flames' future top pairing and Calgary has no interest in moving either of them.
I'm willing to trade for Georgiev but not Andersson as the centrepiece going the other way. |

Totally agree. The only moving R. Andersson is doing is up to the top paring to make room for Valimaki in the top 6 permanently.

At first I thought you were nuts (and $1M is still a little crazy), but there are some decent options which could be relatively cheap out there:
Miller
Mrazek
Neuvirth
Talbot
Stolarz
Reimer, if there was salary retained, wouldn't be the worst option in the world IMO. Wouldn't give up any credible asset to acquire, as you're really just helping FLA land Bob at the end of the day. Which is also why there wouldn't likely be salary going the other way (Neal) unless another piece was coming in that wasn't a great contract...

BT could Trade Brodie and Frolik for draft picks only and I would be satisfied.
Johnny Money Lindholm
Tkachuk Backlund Bennett
Dube Janko Mangiapane
Neal Ryan Czarnik
Phillips
Hathaway
Quine
Rychel
Foo
Gio Rass
Hanifin Hamonic
Valimaki Kylington
Fanta?
Stone
Camp fodder/whomever BT signs to be this years Prout.
I'm pretty happy with that lineup, even if BT doesn't make any significant additions to the roster we should still compete for 1st in the Pacific. If BT manages to land a major roster player without making any changes to the core, then bonus
Our main concern should be finding a solid 1A to play tandem with Rittich.
Potential targets:
Schneider (he's had some down years, but I could see BT taking a chance on him and using Rittich & the other goalies in the system as an insurance policy)
Reimer (not my ideal target-but I could see how a trade with Fla makes sense)
Bobrovsky (UFA--we'd need to clear out salary and empty the bank to pay for him--don't like using that much cap on a goalie)
Dubnyk (I think Minni will be open for business...have a hunch that BT has tried to pry Dubnyk from them multiple times)
Varlamov (this is who I'd go after. He's a UFA and has fallen out of favour with the avs. When he's on his game he can be a Vezina calibre goalie, at the very least he should work well in tandem with Rittich) |

There's zero chance the Panthers are trading Tippet for Brodie, even if the Flames are taking Reimer off their hands.
