You can look at the stats all you want, but it STILL doesn't tell the entire story. You can't accurately compare a center on an elite team versus a winger on a less talented team simply by their stats from one tournament! Both fruit yes, but apples to oranges...
These articles are silly! |

A center on a elite team that didnt get much playing time, BECAUSE the team was elite. Kakko had how many empty net goals?
Todd's comparisons are spot on. I hate these micro stats but if GMS/scouts use them to build a team, they must mean something. |

Yeah, there is a big difference between .50 ppg and .43 ppg when taking out empty-net goals, especially when the .50ppg player saw more ice. |

i'd love to see the differential in offensive zone starts backing up some of these numbers..... if i had to guess Hughes was sheltered with far more offensive zone starts than Kakko was.... in turn leading to more production of these underlying numbers.
I don't have any of these stats so this is just my assumption. Regardless i absolutely love both players and think they'll both be foundation type pieces for NJ & NYR |

Got him for next to nothing. Hall has done nothing but dominate, and should he decide to not extend with the Devs, we will get a massive return.
Dev's are in a great position going forward! And yes, Nico>Patrick

It's a good question but I'm not sure how much team USA would shelter their third line. Wouldn't you want the top lines out for the offensive zone starts? I'd think they'd approach it as line matchup and not so much as what to do with Jack Hughes. He was playing with some pretty skilled NHLers. But IDK nor have stats. Just saying.
Paragraph two, I think everyone agrees with. These are two special players and both teams are pretty lucky to be getting one.
It's not that I didn't enjoy Ranger and Devils fans chanting "We Both Suck" together at their last game at the Rock, but looking forward to a renewed rivalry and better days ahead.

I'm not sure how much I care either way. If Ray trades him he'll get a great return. Hall isn't old, but he's 8 or 9 years older than our next 2 best players in Nico and Hughes, so there's that. Hall won the freaking MVP 2 years ago, has great skill, speed, and isn't small, but isn't a sniper,.. not that he has to be. The newest rumor was Hall for Laine, who is 21 lol. The rumor is merely based on Laine being a RFA and Hall being a UFA that hasn't committed to NJ yet lolol. |

I can't believe I was at the game for that "we both suck" chant. Maybe a once in a lifetime moment. |

They would, but it's not a bad starting point. How bout Hall+Vatanen for Laine+Trouba? even? eh. I still love me some Vatanen and am still skeptical on Trouba. Would sub out another talented middle-aged player (soon to be 29) for a talented younger one though (25, bday in Feb).
I'm trying to remember Laine's game, but my feeling is Hall is more dynamic than Laine. I don't think we'd be taking to big of a hit in that deal going from Hall to Laine. .... we'd suddenly notice our lack of a top 6 LW though, but it at least gives us a very young RW. Palmieri will start to slow down soon enough, and with his average skillset he really can't afford to be slow. Panarin-Hischier-Laine would be siiick, with whoever-Hughes-Palmieri on line 2. I expect a big year out of Hischier, at least 60pts. We're all rightfully captivated by Hughes/Kakko, but we forget Hischier just finished his 2nd season, is still just 20 years old.. is primed and ready for a breakout season. |

Hall says contract shouldn't be Devils top priority now: report
"I'm in contact with Ray and he and I communicate regularly, and out of respect to the process.. "
Not looking good. |

IMO Hall>Laine and Vatanen>Trouba
Laine is very streaky. Pure goal scorer without a 2 way game (see Kessel). Guy had 11 goals over 4 games in November (and 18 over 12 consecutive games in November) but only scored 9 more after Dec 1.....and only 1 after Mar 1st. Only 20 assists and a -24 for what that’s worth.
I think we could get a better package if we traded these 2 players
