They are looking for offers, that is why Maclellan said it. If they get an offer they like they will bring it up to Ovie and his agent. I think this is a sign both sides would welcome a change of scenery.
Anaheim, LA, NYR and maybe Nashville are the teams that come to mind. The only reason Id exclude Vegas is that they have a lack of assets to return.

ovechkin and malkin to chicago - Tumbleweed
Yes to Malkin, no to Ovechkin, the guy cannot lead, yeah Toews has been very sub par the last couple seasons save for a month or so this year, and of course, he's everbody's whipping boy lately, especially when compared to Crosby, but he's still a leader and won three cups, OV has won nothing, hasn't gotten outta the second round, and as far as his doing everything he can, don't think so. When you lay a goose egg in game 7 at home and you have zero shots, not good enough.

If Edmonton can trade Gretzky then Washington could trade Ovechkin; but it is still a bit mind numbing to think what the price would be and how that would go down.
There is no reason the Caps can't win the Stanley Cup. They just need to find that missing ingredient. Maybe trade for Kovalchuck. |

An OV trade would look something like the Kessel trade. ( caps keep salary - get some pics but with a decent player and salary coming back)
Not worth doing for the Caps unless they want to go in a completely new direction. |

Vegas has picks though, Caps could rebound nicely with first round picks and maybe a second or third consecutive years. |

Has Kovalchuck ever been the missing ingredient for anything?
No.
Caps dont need another soft player. |

Kovalchuk?? How does that help at all? You're replacing one slacker with his twin if not worse. |

The Rangers are going to have a hard enough time getting Shattenkirk and Kovalchuk under contract without giving up a dime... Maybe Ovie should tell Kovy to just stay in NJ and he will come team up with him there and we still likely have enough space to make a more then respectable offer to Shattenkirk lol. Do they have the assets to get it done now that they have the first overall ? I don't know but it would be interesting if nothing else lol ( not saying I am for including a #1 overall pick for a player over 30 ) |

Would you actually do that as a Flyers fan? Because I'm certain Washington would. |

Would Vegas be that crazy? They get one of only a handful of legit MARQUEE players in the league that can sell tickets on name alone. Vegas is a different kind of market. Winning matters but so does having that DRAW for all the tourists in town. |

With the amount of abuse that 87 takes on a regular basis, I'd be quite happy if Sid lopped off a few more appendages. It's a gutter war in the NHL and there's no reason he should be held to a higher standard than anyone else. |

Not being plugged into the Washington scene, I'll say as an outsider that it sort of seems like Ovi overshadows the Caps organization. It's like they owe him a Cup and not the other way around.
Again, that's just what it seems like from outside the situation. |
