Reese is believed to be a strong bottom 6 guy in the NHL and nothing more from the various write ups I've read.... but I still want pens to get him so more top NCAA fa's look at Pittsburgh as a future destination

This is one instance where stats don't line up for me. Sheary was a mess most of the game last night. He spent a lot of it on his ass. His points are coming from sids hard work not his. It was a beautiful pass to JG though. He tries to do too much on that line and gets pushed off the puck.

Zach Aston-Reese would be a nice addition to our core of young guys. He has to know the pens will need a Kunitz/Hörnqvist replacement in front of the net sooner rather than later.

Yea Sid's line is gaining serious chemistry. Geno and Phil have looked good together as well.

Do the Pens have any call-ups left?

Even though the line eventually ended up with two points a piece, I am still waiting for them to explode one of these games. Crosby has been a beast the last few games but still waiting for it to reflect on the scoresheet.

Canucks Army Preview for last night's game:

"Worn out from such a long game against the Oilers last night, the Canucks should be primed to crush the Penguins at Rogers Arena."

I guess by that standard, Bonino is better than Sid RIGHT NOW?

No love for Miller? Credit where it's due - he had a big game. Does anyone think this could be a new beginning & he stays at a high level?

Is this a joke?

You think a 36 year old goalie who hasn't had a 'high-level' season since 2010 and has given up 22 goals in the 7 games prior to tonight and has had more games with a sub .900 sv% than above (7 vs. 6) since February will stay at a high-level because of last night's amazing performance?

Miller has been playing at a high level, Canucks have been terrible defensively. He has been a bright spot for them.

Does anyone know if it is possible for the pens to call up Sprong?

Given the recent Spate of injuries, the Pens should basically give Reese the entry level max--he'll get a ton of playing time right away. Would this count against their final "call up" ?
Speaking of that, what a stupid rule! Why punish teams who get an unfortunate spate of injuries? That said, it really accentuates how stupid it was to waste one of those 4 call-ups on enforcer Sestito. Lets say the Pens endure another 2 injuries--unfortunately very possible the way they are getting hit right now...Is there any relief for a team continuing to get injured after that limit of 4 call -ups?

I dont believe they can until after Sprong's junior season is over. Same rule as last year applies, and since he started (after his injury) there, he has to finish his season there before he can join Pittsburgh. Best bet for immediate help is to sign a college FA

I'm pretty sure once they use up their last call-up and there's another injury they can use their "emergency call-up" in whatever way they please.

Archibald played well when he had his opportunity. Simon has a little NHL experience. Blueger has played well lately and could be ok for a game or 2. I have always bought Dea was at least as talented as Rust and Wilson and he can play centre as well. As long as we have the big 3 up front we are in the game, they make mediocre players look very good. Still need to get these guys back by the playoffs, defence especially.
