Nice piece Carol great expansion on CBC after-hours sitdown. Like Guddy comments on the size and neutral zone play plus getting pucks on net from the Blue Line. Seems he will thrive more here and is sorely needed on this team. His effect will grow on the team more as he gets more comfortable playing with them. |

They like to play together... is this not a good thing for team development...?
Would you use anyone else with Hutty...? Stecher/Tanev?
They are split on special teams play... to play to strengths...but together for balance on 5v5. |

Canucks are currently in 3rd place in their division with 9 pts in 9 games.
Calgary has 9 pts in 10 games
Anaheim 8 pts in 9 games
LA 8 pts in 9 games
Often for whatever reason the teams that are in the playoffs by american Thanksgiving (Nov 24) are the same teams in the playoffs come the regular season.
With 11 games to go, 4 @ home and 7 away, will the Canucks still be in the playoffs in 24 days?
I'm going to go out on a limb and say we are still in. I think our opponents don't look that scary and this team's biggest issue right now IMO is it's "super stars" aren't playing well yet.
Canucks will go 5-3-3 over then next 11 and still be holding on to a spot. |

Possible as long as the schedule doesn't get to them or they run into key injuries that helped do them in. Key as you said is that all their top players contribute consistently
to scoring.
Last year if I recall correct they were in same playoff position by that time but by new year we're over taken by Kings and Ducks and then just fell off the rails by the TDL. |

UFA big-money signings of 30+ year olds don't have the greatest success rate. |

He was the early consensus top defender but stock dropped closer to draft day for whatever reason. Him being on an NHL roster is good for him, but also is evident of Arizona's lack of quality defenders |

I thought he was the most NHL ready defender in the draft but Olli and Mikael have a higher upside in the future. |

I watched a piece on him. He had a bit of a mental breakdown adjusting to life in North America. For a bit he wanted to go home to Russia untils his coaches and friends and parents had to talk him down a bit. He is going to be a REALLY good D man one day. |

1) Terrible Top prospects Game
2) Really Bad U18 tournament
3) Really bad World Junior camp (first player cut)
Teams have a small window to judge a player and he wasn't good when it mattered. But he is a solid prospect. |

Canucks were 8-8-6 last year then and were in 9th in the pacific, barely missing the cut. Only Anh was behind them at that point who made the playoffs. LA was 4th in the conference. |

This was a nice piece Carol, kind of takes the edge off of getting dominated 5 games straight and being last in the league for goals scored. Guddy's relationship with Jovo and Mitchell is pretty cool considering were about to sign him long-term.
I for one just want to see some progress out of the young guys. If Hutton isn't getting dominated and out of position by the end of the year, the pain of watching him learn to play against top-6 forwards will be worth it. Kind of odd to not do the same with Virtanen though... Either play him 17 minutes up here or put him in the A where he will play those kinds of minutes, he needs all the icetime he can get IMO. |

Speaking of, I saw Juolevis profile on the canucks youtube channel, he says his biggest inspiration is OEL. Hopefully he puts up points like that guy one day |
