Kind of agree.
I think it's the same thing as Trouba in WPG. They will stay in a place long term but want to get overpaid to do it.
I think both guys want to be in US.

Going long term now means you are possibly buying the best or most productive years in a player's career. That's why players demand more money.
The possible downside is if the player for some reason doesn't pan out as expected, than you are stuck with an unmovable contract.
Going short term solves that problem but does bring out the one that Ek mentioned.
Not an easy decision, I believe that Johnny is worth it, the only question left is... What is the price for a long term contract?
I think it will be around the 8 mil mark. |

He's never given any indication that he doesn't want to play in Calgary, but people won't let it go. Can we stop already. Every time the rumours start swirling about someone wanting to play closer to home, nothing comes of it.
If he cared so much about playing in the States, why didn't he go the Vesey route? |

Gaudreau for Shattenkirk and Sobotka. You got Elliott and Brouwer from us. It's only fair. |

There is no chance they give him a bridge deal that would be a joke. Hate how eklund needs to come up with things that will never happen |

sometimes guys just want to be over paid and it has nothing to do with where they are playing!!! |

Anyone else get the feeling that a blog like this diminishes Calgary as if they were just a farm team to larger markets? |
