Krug - McQuaid
K. Miller - Liles
Chara - Ray Borque or maybe Don Sweeney. They are about the same age. Lol
Pretty bad when your team is led by a 39 yr old who is 4 yrs past his prime, and another older guy (Backes) who you pretty much are paying until he starts collecting senior discounts on his coffee.
I looked through the rest of the Eastern Conference D pairs... Boston is easily the worst. Omg they are so bad they are talking about bringing back Siedenberg. Good luck with that. [/img] |

God those pairings look brutal right now
Kevin Miller should be on the bottom pairing, but like you said there is not many options for that #4 spot. McQuaid is a bottom pairing guy and given the age of Lilies, he too is nothing more than a 5/6. The Bruins lack that elite level defender that you can really only get trough bottoming out in the standings or overpaying for.
It's so upsetting seeing how far the Bruins defense has fallen in the last few years. What used to be their strength has now become a weakness in the span of 2-3 years. I really hope some of these new kids like Carlo, Gryzleck, Zboril, Lauzon can really push for spots this season. If the defense is going to be bad, I'd rather watch the excitement the youth can bring. |

The defense as a whole isn't that bad, they just lack a true #1. Charas fine on the top pair, he just needs help. Krug - Miller is a fine 2nd pair. Liles McQuaid is probably an above average 3rd. If Colin Miller can step up or the B's can acquire a Shattenkirk/ Trouba the D will be fine.

Love the optimism, but no. This defense is a disaster. I can't believe I'm going to have to watch the same group struggle night in and night out again. As it stands, I think the best bet for pairings is:
Chara - C.Miller
Krug - McQuiad
Liles - K.Miller
Morrow
Re-signing Kevan at ANY term, not to mention 4 years, is IMO one of Sweeney's stupidest moves during his tenure. It seems like Carlo is ready to step in a fill a similar role, why not start him out now? Just makes zero sense. I'd also like to see Morrow get in some more games this year. I think there's potential there to be a solid 2-way guy.
I love our forwards group but this defence is going to kill us again this season. Good thing the future is bright on the backend

Guys need to lay off K Miller. Sure he made some stupid plays, but he's also had solid numbers, especially his plus minus over the last two seasons. He's quicker than mcQuaid, stronger than chara, and has a decent shot. He was left out to dry several times and unfairly got a bad rep. He's also basically a sophomore.

based on our Defense outlook and the fact our higher end prospects are dmen that will likely take 3-5 years to develop I would trade Rask and roll with Khoubodin.
Maybe see how the first few months of the season go.
$7m for a guy who will be spent every year from too much workload is too much for where the Bruins are in terms of competitiveness in the league. |

The Bruin's D looks worst than the Leafs! |

"What's the perfect blend for the B's defensive pairings?" A trade (or two) for more competence on the blue line. |
