No. Not even close. and that's a great thing for Kings fans. |

What sux for kings fans is that brown, gaborik are well into their decline and are signed for many more years at a hefty sum of cap space.. |

Love his game - a sniper, with a sneaky nasty streak -
really underappreciated - Kings are going to have to find a way to give him Brown type money IMO - |

Definitely not! Wish the Leafs could've stockpiled homegrown talent like Toffoli |

Brown or gaborik is most likely gone in expansion draft.
Not sure how many times someone has to tell people that. |

Why would Vegas help kings by taking one of those horrible contracts ?
I Meant TT is going to need around that $ amount yearly - |

While im grateful as a fan for his scoring. Im more impressed with his maturing as a player and getting PK time and playing smart and being dangerous. Sutter trusts this kid. Once I saw that I knew he morphed into a better player. |

They would have to get to the cap somehow. Can't take on low money contracts on every player. They'll take some real bad contracts but it will help them get to the floor. Doesn't really take a genious to figure that out. They may or not take brown or gaborik, but most likely they will. |

Im not saying Vegas will. But Vegas will have a view of all the players they can get. And how soon they can be competitive. They would take Brown long before Gabby. Purely for leadership. But we don't know what they're going to do for quite some time. All we can do is pray. |

Alot of money will be available. I doubt hitting the cap floor is going to be a concern. So much money around the NHL now on teams. |

In couple of yrs those guys may not even be in the league anymore - Kings will be having to expose better / more attrative players I would think - |

Those guys will be the exposed for sure. And if not taken they will ride it out or buy one of them out if they dont get better next year. |

No doubt they will be exposed I agree with you - just saying other Kings exposed may be more attractive to Vegas is all - |

Sure. Other Kings would be more attractive possibly. But not to management. Its a expose Brown and Gabby. If neither or one is taken. Then buy out one. Unless they have a good year. Then you allow them to keep going and just maintain the ship thats sailing. |

buying out brown would cost the kings $22mm and cost them a 6 year cap hit at 1.8mm.
http://www.generalfanager.com/buyouts/959
gabbo's deal would be slightly less painful to buy out (at 14mm), but still painful, carrying 5 years of cap hit at 1.4mm.

this is on top of $1.3mm cap hits from richards' buyout for four more years. ugly.

I'm not worried, I believe brown is gone. If he's not then we can be childish and go the, "i told you so rant". |

i think both schools of thought are fully plausible, and can see the arguments for and against LV taking brown or gabbo if exposed in the expansion draft. all depends on what LV is willing to "overpay" to make the cap floor (leadership, scoring, etc).
personally i think they'd be able to find cheaper vets with less toxic contracts for leadership than brown, and would find martinez/mcnabb more enticing. but that's just me. |

You started with the wrong buyout date. The window is closed for this summer. A Brown buyout next summer would cost $17mil and carry a $1.7mil cap hit until 2026-27. |

good catch, also reduces the gabbo hit, but both are still awfully expensive. and the dead money hit still lengthy. |
