The fact Hornqvist sports a reasonable cap hit for the next two years and has a unique skill set for the Penguin roster, he isn't likely to be moved. I know you said bonus, but he is probably one of the least likely to be moved. |

You honestly think that the cost to acquire Eberle is: Brett Pesce, Keegan Lowe, mid-range pick (3rd/4th round)....
What are you smoking???
The Oil would be looking for a serious D - try Justin Faulk.
Most of the other trades are delusional as well. One of the Funniest posts in a long time... |

Hoss, how are you trading a 3rd pairing D, AHL D and a garbage pick for one of the premier right wingers in the game? The AI in NHL 95 wouldn't even take that trade. There is nothing on that roster beyond Faulk that gets you close to Eberle. |

I'm not going to say that Faulk is the only fair return Edmonton would be able to get, but it's the only return they'd actually move him for. Edmonton has limited desire for Dmen that aren't established top-4 guys. He's just a second pairing guy on a fairly weak (because of the youth) Carolina blueline that does little for the team as far as tangible improvement. In fact, it likely makes them worse as they'd be losing 25 goals/year.
Not saying he wouldn't be a solid add once we've got better players (Hamonic, Trouba, Shattenkirk, Demers, etc), but not for Eberle. I don't think I'd go much higher than Yak and a 3rd for him. |

Demers is in no way better than Faulk, who is an established top-4 guy. |

Ok seriously dude, do you really think anyone is gonna give you a top 6 forward for the crap you are including?
Would you take pieces in the Corrado, Loov, Brown, mid round picks range for Lindholm? Because that is the value you are putting on Nyqvist, Eberle, etc. Barring giving up a top 4 defensive prospect and the 13th overall pick you are not getting a young top 6 winger. |

Yeah because consistent 25G/60Pts players are totally over rated to the point where Lowe and a low pick is a fair return. Guess you better move the Sedins for a 2nd rounder quick eh? I mean the Sedins averaged less over the last 3 years. |

The trades aren't that off. Pesce is a big young right handed D so teams will get overly excited about him. Trying to take advantage of potentially cap strapped teams like the Rangers and red wings is actually really smart. Might have to take on an additional bad contract for the trades to make perfect sense though. |

I thought eberle was a guy like okposo who's offense drys up when they aren't playing with an elite forward like hall, mcdavid, or Tavares? |

Well considering he got 34 goals in 11-12 and got (or was on pace for based on a full 82 game schedule) 24-29 goals in each following season there is no way to confirm your statement. Either Eberle didn't play with the stars and still averaged his goal total or he always did which means you are just incorrect.

The trades are that off. Pesce had one season and although he was ok there is nothing saying he won't be a permanent 3rd pairing guy or worse. The other pieces are crap meaning you are getting proven, consistent, top 6 forwards for a 21 year old defenceman with 16 points to his name.
Maybe if the team was seriously cash strapped or Carolina threw in some high draft picks this could be better.
If Carolina wants a top 6 forward for Pesce then they have to get someone whose value dropped like Yakupov or someone who desperately needs to dump salary like Vanek in Minnesota (bad move for the Hurricanes but you get my point). |

The sedins are still better than eberle in their mid 30s and guess what they also arent one dimensional as in they back check. What do the sedins have to do with how over rated eberle is?
If eberle is so good why has he never been to the playoffs, its because like every other oiler player they think there is only one end to a hockey rink.. |

Probably what a Yakupov deal will look like. A high risk hockey move where Edmonton has to hope their new guy makes the team AND Yakupov doesn't find a way out of his slump (or what ever the heck you want to call it is).
I don't like it but they are kind of limited in their options. |

It may not work with some of the players mentioned in this post, but don't underestimate the power of the cap. LA, Chicago, St Louis, NY, etc... All may need to make some room under the cap and may be willing to move a very good player for projects or slightly lesser talent. I've seen it every year for the last 6 years (and will likely again this year). |
