Those four Pacific Division banners that will hang above Honda Center should serve as a constant reminder to the Ducks’ leadership core as to what is really important in the NHL and on some level it should be looked at a more of an embarrassment than an achievement.

Obviously anytime you finish as the number one team in your division, it should be viewed with a sense of pride...that should go without saying. It's not as if it is anything other than a good accomplishment. But I think both Ducks fans and management realize how hollow these division banners have become when the disappointments have been so great (and insanely similar) for almost half a decade now. If I were the ducks, I'd consider purposely not winning the division at this point to at the very least change the narrative surrounding their organization. It's become the proverbial 'elephant in the room' for far too long. And more division banners certainly aren't the remedy.
