Great blog!
On the BCHL front, with the Giants planning to move to the Langley Event Centre, anyone know if the Rivermen are sticking around or moving out? |

It doesn't matter where he was drafted, it matters how he has progressed....if he was in the draft this year where would he project? |

Probably in the second round where the vast majority of the 'best' Goalies are taken in this day and age. |

It mustve been produced with the same algorithm as the NHL Lottery simulator - WhiteLie
Seriously, i get somewhat, can kindof, attempt to rationalize the Laine move but
McLeod at number 3 is a cruel joke. |

What is your point? A player's value and potential is strictly based off draft number?
Subban
Keith
Josi
Weber
Draft position doesn't matter. Schneider is an elite goaltender taken late in the 1st, right now he is worth more than a top 5 pick. |

A few seasons of NHL experience and he was worth 9th overall.
I think Demko is viewed more of a sure thing than most goalie prospects, but there are others that come to mind (Jack Campbell) who excelled in Jrs, go to the Worlds and still cant get out of the minors. For that reason, I see VANTEL's point that he alone shouldnt be worth a top 5 |

The more I see and read from a variety of sources, the more I kind of hope we pick second and take Laine.

At the same time. We can list players taken from 1 to 5 that have turned out to be 3rd, 4th, or bust players as well. My point is, Demko has shown flashes of brilliance early on his pro career. IF we do not have control over his future, than for sure get a top 5 pick if it is offered, but if he plans on signing and paying his due's, why not stay true to your prospect that is currently showing promise? |

Markstrom will be fine.
If somebody was dumb enough to trade a top 5 for demko you take it and run |

I take the same stance that if it was offered, I would go for it if the right player is available. The Canucks have Markstrom who should (hopefully) have 5+ years starting ahead of him, plenty of time to find and develop another. I would be more hesitant if the decision was to make the trade so the team could acquire the 5th pick and go for the 3-4th ranked d prospect in the draft. I would rather hold onto the chip another year and see what the following draft looks like, go for the home run |
