You've probably explained before, but why do you like Boedker over Hoffman? |

Think he helps with the mix of players we have - our forward group is very soft and he brings an extra element of size and 2 way okay. He's not a bruiser but he better fits a 2 way game we need from our top 6.
Better 2 way player, bigger, very good speed, perfect age for this team, more NHL experience, best LW available as a FA.
And I think we need to keep restocking the cupboard so if you can flip Hoff for a #1 pick and take that money and pay a player that better suits the makeup of our team, that's good management.
Nothing against the Hoff I think we need a different mix of players. |

So many 'get rid of Hoffman' rooters, it's sad. Seems like every time we get a prolific goal scorer we can't wait to move them out of Ottawa for 'someone better, a better fit'. Might be nice to actually hold on to someone who's scored 27 goals x2 and added 27A for a change. Also, keeping the core of players we have now and letting them grow and gel together might yield better results than switching guys in every year or so. If (and I hope it doesn't happen) Hoffman gets traded I'm betting that you'll all be crying in your posts a year or two from now, "we should have kept Hoffman!" |

I guess I just don't see why Hoffman has to be a casualty. Trading him for a late round pick doesn't seem to me the best use of an asset. We could have lots of years of use of Hoffman. We are short on talent with Hoffman in the lineup. Moving him and bringing in another guy doesn't really solve much, even if the player is a better "2 way" guy.
You need offence first guys in order to win in this league. Every contending team has a couple of guys who think offence first and defence second. I'm not sure why this fanbase is so content on getting rid of guy who have above average skill and offensive capabilities in favour of guys who are weaker in that aspect, but might back check a few more times a game. |

Sens penalty kill is a complete joke.. How in the sweet (frank) does Kostka not clear that puck to the corner!?
Murray's got his tank roster rolling today
Sad to see yet another coaching change but Cameron & his staff won't be back next season. There is no excuse for the 28th worse power play & 29th worse PK. |

I'm hoping that we see a complete change on the assistants but keep Cameron. That said, I'd be fine to ditch Cameron if Julien or another proven coach came along that can instill solid team defense. |

In that case should we sell high with Karlsson, Stone, Smith and quite a few others?Their value has never been higher. |

Seriously.....with tuna logic, we could probably send Karlsson to Philly for Simmons, del zotto, and a conditional 2nd |

AND DEVELOP HIM! - JACMAN
100% agree. i'd say $5-$5.5 a year for 5 years should do it. He was asked to repeat what he did last year and he did that and more. he deserves it.
I still say put him with a #1C (like Duchene) and he could be a 40 goal scorer.
If they gave him another bridge contract and say "prove it again" and he does again next year, he's going to want an even bigger pay. Might as well get him at a decent rate now and build for the future. |

I do find Murray's comments the other day funny about how they need to self evaluate and they are looking for a top 6 forward who can score.
#1. evaluating yourself.... Bad idea. Murray should be let go and take an advisory role. and the replacement GM should come from outside the organization so that Murray has less pull. If we promote from within then Murray will still be the GM in the background.
#2. I'm all for finding a top 6 forward who can score. but we already have that with Hoffman. We need to resign him and try to find him a #1C (like Duchene) then focus on getting Mac's game to where it needs to be as our #2LW or bring in a #2LW (Yak seems to come to mind right now. He plays RW but has played LW before. He's would also be easy and cheap to get at the moment and could pay off huge) |

Tuna99 - I like your posts; we may not all agree but entertaining. Good contract for Ceci.
Ceci: I think it's possible to get him lower than 4m per on term of 5 years minimum. Longer I'd think cap number goes up. I'd do 5 years @3.5-3.8M
Hoffman: Without question biggest thing to look at in the off sesaon (on ice). He is a lethal goal scorer but the jury is way out if he'll buy into 2-way game AND I am not convinced he'll be a 25+ goal scorer once he gets his new contract. Some players thrive when they have to prove themselves (this is him to a T) and others when they get security - the best ones to have are the ones fit both.
Ryan: Speaking of a player that got his new contract and didn't live up to it goal scoring wise, look no further than bobby. He has yet to hit 25 goals as a senator - as one of the biggest cap hits in the league. He needs to work on his core strength and stop falling. |

Trade Hoffman IF you get a LW coming in. Drouin, Boedker?, Ladd, Lucic, and Eriksson are options but will cost. |
