The bad news—losing is not an isolated effect. It's really starting to seem like some long-lasting damage is happening in the room and to the organization.
And this is why you never want to go full-Oilers. It's important to stay competitive and bring players through in a winning culture. Then again, this last little stretch could prove some learning experience for the younger kids, and hopefully help turn it around next year akin to the bounce back after the Torts era ended. |

The biggest danger facing the team right now is fan apathy. Would a top pick this summer help sell tickets? |

If we won the lotto and got Matthew's, you'd think he would generate some buzz and ticket sales. Hell the big tree was getting huge cheers from the crowd on his first game. |

Might wanna relax a bit. We are far away from what could be considered a 'losing culture' which is a terminology I'm not sure I buy anyway. With 9 rookies and a god-awful D and Millers first 'real good' game in about two months what do you really expect? Top 16? Cmon man…
The pick is what the team needs plus a solid UFA guy and a healthy club next year could compete for the wild card even what would be best for the team is another top 5 pick next year. - LordHumungous
Oh I am relaxed, just an opinion, it's only hockey, not life.
It's not who they're playing, it's how they're playing. |

Yes and a solid UFA signing.
This losing culture thing is massively overblown as we are nowhere near Oiler or Leafs territory. Not sure what people expect with 9 rookies and a god-awful D structure and Millers first good game in close to two months.
Let MNGT and Coaching clean it up. With an excellent pick and a good UFA this team (if healthy) could make a stab at the WC for next year even though another top 5 pick is technically what the team needs over getting hammered in the PO's.

One would think that many on here have never really seen the real lean times this team has been through over the past 46 years. We are nowhere near that. |

I don't mind the losing as the reward could be worth it...if we land a top 3 pick we will be potentially drafting a first line star. We don't have any first line talent at the moment and Boeser is the only kid that may end up there. I think the Sedins should be second line players at this point of their careers. We desperately need a star for the future |

Give stamkos anything he wants and if we can draft laine or mathews the sedins can play second line with Hansen or Sutter and horvat Baer Virtanen can be the third line.
Trade JM and something for a legit tip 4 de and we're lookin real good quckly |

I would be ecstatic with one of the Fin's. Failing that our choice of D.

Let Stamkos go to TO. We don't need him. |

They played the night before. Daniels may want to remind himself too that no one scored , not just a few players |

Stamkos is not coming to the West Coast, he's an Eastern guy that'll re-sign in Tampa or somewhere in the Eastern Conference. Sure it'd be nice but why on earth would he choose a bottom team in the prime of his career....he wouldn't! Unless it was his home, Vancouver is not his home. |

The team is at it's lowest point in years, I hope everyone enjoys the "tanknation" because losing will pretty much destroy a locker. Dont see this team being substantially different next season. Settle in for hard times folks. |

To be fair the blues had two craptastic games by their standards in Alberta ...second game of a back to back for a young team ...this had blues and the under written all over it ...tough game for all to play if you ask me |

Losing is a part of building, you can lose but still play the right way with effort, that's not happening! I can take losing with kids, what I can't accept is losing on purpose, which appears to be the case. |

Sure....but not a bottom feeding Western Conference team in the prime of his career. |

I agree that he'll probably stay out east. At the same time anything can happen and man vancouver is a gorgeous city. If we can sign sundin we can sign anyone. If by some fluke we offered huge and got him I would be excited as he is definately a legit 1st kine center and we have zero in the pipeline. We have lots of young talent that will help us go deep into playoffs in a few years but we won't get there without 2 or 3 top end guys.
No doubt he fills that void. I'm hoping |

It's on the coaching to make sure that if the players are doing all the little things right but yet still losing to convince the players to not change what they are doing ...teams can lose and still develop |

He'll come out West I think. The best hockey in the league is in the West, that's why I see him coming over. He doesn't seem the most settled guy (not married) he's going to chase a cup regardless of location, he's so dang competitive.
With an addition of Stamkos this team would be a playoff team (whether or not they would be a successful one, who knows?).
regardless though, I think JB is a fool for not at least pursuing him, he's said many times that they arent going to touch any of the big market FAs, I would hope that justs means they arent going to overpay. To not "wine and dine" stamkos and try to sell him into coming to Vancouver would be a failure on Management imo. We need goals, have needed a goal scorer for years, and now a pure goalscorer/top line center (which we wanted to fill anyways through the draft) in his prime is available for just salary....
While you're probably right he doesnt come out here, Trevor better chase him hard. |
