Higgins with a maintenance day
The only maintenance he should be performing is scrubbing toilets at the Rog.
Miller out is good/bad. Need to get a damn good look at Markstrom for 4-5 in a row but we need Miller healthy for TDL as well...tough one... |

Love the comment from McCann, what's not to like this far into his career?
No higgins in the lineup nooooo!!
if they take Weber out, I will have very little to complain about |

Darius Chicago had prospects ready to step in , are you suggesting Canucks didn't?
I would take Gaunce Shink and Grenier over the more expensive Burrows or Higgins any day . Canucks do have prospects but we cant let go of safe players |

Chicago bought out their goalie, moved Sharp, Campbell , and younger pieces like Saad Pirrili and were even thinking about Crawford at one point and Kane this summer.
Smart management . No player is more important than the organization - VANTEL
That's completely different than trading the twins, which is what we're talking about, as you started the conversation about Doan.
They gutted their organization because of two players, Toews and Kane make 21 million dollars between them, if you ad Keith, Seabrook and Crawford it's almost 40 million for those five players. |

And they win cups.
Sharps playoff numbers are off the charts. Better than both the twins , he has obviously played more games but is a clutch player. He has 4 x 30 plus goal years and 3 x20 plus goals. He is in the same neck of the woods as the twins.
My comment comment is more about organizations that hang on too long to players. Not to beat that dead horse but I said trade Burr Vrbata and Hamhuis last summer and put Higgins on waivers. It is definitely looking like the right thing that should have been done today.
Canucks sooner or later have to pull that bandaid off. They longer we wait the less value the return will be . |

Benning has been on the job for a year and a half and he's moved out a lot of veteran players so that's a bunch of bullpoop. I believe he's come to the realization this team needs to rebuild more than retool, my opinion is those two guys won't be on the team next year.
FYI...all these guys have been moved out or not re-signed by Benning.

@ Vantel.
You can't really say that if we had traded all those vets last year we'd be in a better position.
We might be.
But we might have drafted duds and rushed/ruined prospects and not had enough leadership/mentorship going forward. |

But Toews, Kane, Keith and Seabrook weren't acquired from trading away older players, which was your point, they were acquired because they sucked and got higher picks.
You're speaking out both sides of your mouth, also, Los Angeles didn't win Cups from trading older players away, they got good from drafting really well with good picks. |

Just for poops and giggles, under Benning I think there's been something like seven kids play their first NHL game, change is here but it's a slow'ish process.

In 20 more games he's got 3 more playoff points than Henrik, I was curious so I checked. He's a good playoff guy, no doubt but so are the twins, even though people in Van seem to hate on them that time of year.
That being said, I have no problem dealing the Sedin's if the right package was there to make the team better three years from now cause that's the reality that management needs to embrace IMO

After teams catch up to us in games played we should be sitting at 4 th from the bottom so it really couldn't have hurt much |

Dec 22, '84 Hartford rookie @rayferrarotsn scored his 1st goal & got 3 assists in 10-5 loss to Mtl (via @scicirello)

I like Benning and think he is doing a good job but Matthias Santorelli STanton
Schroeder Richardson all walked for free.
He was forced to trad Kesler .
He has moved 2 vets with Bieksa and Garrison , there is a whole lot more. I think this year will be a big year for saying goodbye to players. |

Half of the battle was Markstom's pre-season injury in practice. |
