I don't expect any less from the Ass Jackets. All I can hope for is that a bunch of bad long term contracts and an incompetent coach keep them in the basement forever...wait a minute...
that's straight up disgusting. I'm a huge supporter of tough, hard nosed , whatever other cliche term you'd prefer to insert here hockey, but that's so out of control I'm not sure what to even say. that's borderline criminal. was he trying to decapitate the man?
There's that assault word again... Bring in the trolls...
At least this time it was so blatant and not against Crosby, so there really shouldn't be anyone that defends this besides Grinder and Jeropotato. - Victoro311
Tough to defend, but I also know what it's like when a guy loses it. I admittedly don't know the concussion history for the Blue Jacket guy, but Plots came in high with the check. If there is a concussion history I fully understand him losing it.

I must be missing something because I don't see Plots coming up high at all. That is shoulder to shoulder all the way. That reaction is pathetic, but not unexpected from a Torts coached team. The same coach that said Malkin was diving on that knee on knee and supposedly didn't miss a shift, even though he missed the entire PP. I don't think that was intentional, but a penalty none the less. Torts has to be outspoken to keep himself in the spotlight since he's such a pathetic coach.
Man you have to wonder what that guy must of been thinking ..... Great must win game tonight by the pens , it felt like Kessel in particular just decided to put the team and on his shoulders and win on his own. Looking forward to confirming the eye test with fancy stats tomorrow
CBJ guy is looking towards Plots as Plots gets his upper arm into his shoulder and then ear. As I said twice now, if the guy has a concussion history I can see him losing his poop.....and five games or so. Had the BJ player been knocked out, Plots gets suspended on that hit.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I don't see anything even close to a high hit from Plots on that. They go in there with shoulders lowered and went shoulder to shoulder, and not very hard at all. That reaction was ridiculous and completely unnecessary. He should get five games, but I'm sure he'll get one as the crosschecks will likely be deemed "not very forceful or overly violent" by the NHL's top notch player safety department.

Kind of doubt that incident existed in a vacuum. Might have been an exchange of words or maybe something in the preseason.
Real bush league move on Prout's behalf but then again Prout is bush league material.

I don't think this guy will get a single game. - jfkst1
The sad thing is you probably have better than a 50% chance of being right. Although, the NHL has an easier time suspending 3rd and 4th liners than they do players like Dubinsky (see Talbot's two game suspension). I think the most frustrating part of the whole process is what Ryan talks about repeatedly, they punish the results and not the intent of the play. Had he caught Plots clean in the face and broke his jaw he'd be looking at 15 - 20 games. Since there was no apparent injury, I wouldn't be surprised with a fine or less.
That's the kind of hit you see a minimum of 10 times a game, even with the "softer" teams. Nothing more than coming in hard on the forecheck, it's part of hockey at every level. The reaction was completely overblown no matter what his history was (if he's that worried about a hit like that ending his career he should retire for his own health).
He should get 10 games for it, likely only gets 2-3 if he gets anything at all.
Well he sure got his money's worth End of the game and it meant nothing so why not beat the hell out of someone. It is only a minor penalty should have been assault and battery but it is the NHL afterall

Ok. The point of contact wasn't my initial or sole point, it was the reaction. My point in that was I can see how a guy would flip his lid.

A professional shouldn't "flip his lid". If he can't control his temper over a hit like that then he should not be playing in this league. He's the equivalent of a beer league guy throwing a sucker punch after he took a whack to the shin-pads, (frank) them guys we don't need them in hockey.
And I'm as pro hitting, pro fighting, pro old-time hockey as they come.
Edit:
However, I still hold a soft spot for Prout for doing this to this crybaby assh0le!

Read the entire comment section before posting. My points were very exposed.
Holy poop. Should have been ejected. And the league needs to come down mad harsh. 10 games minimum. - poisondhearts37
He'll get 3 games max because this is what the NHL wants. Anybody who reads those emails (the non-redacted parts) in the concussion case against the NHL knows this is what the masterminds of the garage league is selling.
