While Wideman has been terrible to start the year, he seems to go through these stretches every season since being a Flame . And once he improves, he seems rather effective. Just an observation. |

God bless you but that aint going to get er done.
Talk about 3 somes, how about this E5:
Anaheim need offence something fierce, so they receive Hudler, Granlund & Islanders 2nd Jiri Didler can easily play & get Perry & Getzlaff going.
Islanders get Fowler & Calgary's 2nd round pick
Calgary get Hamonic.
Everyone get's what they want

Well buddy, I would expect an Oiler pest to spin that perspective on Hudler. Yeah, he isn't top 10 this year, neither is Perry or Getzlaff. Hudler is a bonafide top line winger & please don't say he isn't just because he's struggling early. So is Crosby. Really, Anaheim get a top line forward to get their big boys started, they have enough solid young D they can sacrifice Fowler & they get an NhL ready Granlund & don't call him Sven(2), because he's better than Sven. & they get a 2nd. Islanders get what they want.
Instead I would expect you to say, Oilers can do that better than the Flames, & I think they could. They could probably offer Anaheim Yak & a lottery protected 1st to Anaheim & Anaheim send Fowler & their 2nd to the Islanders & Oil get Hamonic.
I see Yak probably meshing pretty good with Getzlaff & Perry. - Kevin R
I'm only kidding KevinR.....the real joke of the matter is what Islander fans expect in trade. I likened it to the Leafs fans expectations of a return for Phil Kessel....and the results for Hamonic will probably be equally as dissapointing. |

That's ok, I know how you like to poke. No worries. You are absolutely right. Hamonic has been a little injury prone, he's missed 10-12 games the last 2 years. Probably because he plays that tough style, which I would love to see the Flames acquire. But, look how we thought Hamilton would come in & take us by storm. It's going to take 2-3 years to see Hamilton comfortably fit into a top pairing role. But he's 22 & very good with a very high ceiling. I have no desire to part with him in a deal either. Brodie is just a beast & not even in this scenario. Wont happen, why would we take a risk on Hamonic struggling to adapt to our systems & team & part with the best Defnder on our team. I would move Gio before Brodie.
Yeah, if Oilers offered Schultz & Yak, Snow should be all over it. Would be a good deal for you guys as well. |

C'mon bro, you're better than that. Hudler's coming off an almost 80pnt season and has always been a decent point getter and high % shooter. Granund has a more NHL ready game than Baertschi did with good 2 way play. It's his poor face offs and management seemingly wanting to keep him a C that's holding him back.
Don't tell me that you're one of those guys thinking Yaks and Schultz gets 'er done. I wish Oil fans would just realize that Yaks is a bust already. Without McDouche he"s done nothing. And jultz is the softest D ever; never ingages. - TandA4Flames
Don't know, put Yaks with Tavares & he may blossom yet. He still is young enough that the 1st overall pedigree has value. |

Regarding the Oilers players your actually 50% right. Yak is poop without McD....but Schultz is better than most give him credit for. He's just the token scape goat no matter how I proved his play is. |

Gio and 1st for Hamonic might fly, but don't think Isles will add DC..Once Gio gone, make Stajan interim C. Next year, Monahan inherits C...Brodie and Frolik with A's....If Flames are gonna make a change this season, get younger, and continue rebuild, might as well go big or go home?? Gio + for Hamonic is a going big... |

Yeah, last year had some real lows for Schultz. He looks better this year but December/January hasn't happened yet so I'm waiting to see how that goes.
It occurred to me yesterday that Edmonton could potentially have a line of Matthews-McDavid-Nolan in two years from today. Not trying to flame; just thought it was a funny notion. |

Asking you not to be a douche is like asking a bear not to poop in the woods, a bird not to fly and Denise Wideman to play a solid defensive game. |

Hah did I hit close to home? Don't bring Denise into this. We all know once he steps into the dress and dons the seudonym all bets regarding his defensive play are off. |

Gio and a first for only hamonic is way to good for the islanders. But it makes sense for the flames if they can get a young prospect too. Having Brodie Hamilton and hamonic is pretty darn good young defence core |

cmon, I thought you were better than this.
hudlers a career 50ish point guy except for last year. 54 a couple times, 50 once etc. etc reasonable numbers, but his career ppg is hardly better than nails consider yakupov had a great rookie year. while hudler had one exceptional year and a lot of just decent ones.
and how does saying a guy is better than baertschi carry any weight or bring value?? sven is barely nhl material
as far as Schultz, I think he absolutely turned a corner in the first ten games this year, but those are just words and since u didn't see him, I wont expect you take my word for it.
nail is absolutely not what we hope thus far from a first overall. but there still potential there. and certainly to be the equivalent of a career 50 point guy
either way, to try and pontificate that hudler and granlund is somehow a better package than Schultz and yaks is laughable.
I really do think that last years success has completely blinded some flames fans to the realities of your team. unfortunately for many oilers fans, the lack of success has given some of us no choice but to be realistic.
but no doubt that mony, jg, Giordano and Brodie is a real good base to build around. |

Sorry but I highly doubt Gio's going anywhere! The guy has a Norris type season last year and already you want to ship him and something else for Harmonic.
Not happening! Gio will come around and we'll all be thankful you are not the gm! |

Harmonics young and with a sweet contract, but the truth is, he can't really lace Gio's skates up. |
