Yup - some kids will step in and they won't miss a beat.

That would be nice...maybe pull off something like the 3 mid-1st rounders that the Bruins had this year.

So long as we draft guys who can stay in shape

A word to the wise. The problem with Baertschi is not his conditioning or his talent, it's what he's lacking between his ears when he steps on the ice that's the problem. Hope he turns it around in Van city.

He'll be fine and make the Flames pay for their lack of support. Just needed to mature a little bit and get a better grasp of what it means to earn a job and play on the right side of the puck.

It's all good!!

So when will this feel like the least anticipated Canucks season in years?

Some of the same old story lines that never really get old...

who is going to play with the Sedins?

do we have youth to push for a spot? any possible surprises?

Any vets losing their roster spot?

JV?

Who is going to replace Matthias' goals?

Will Vey have a better season?

Thanks for the blog CS.

Bring it!

If they are on track for 96 points I doubt they move many pending UFA's. Hockey trades perhaps .

I don't care if they are on pace for 105 points, they have to move Vrbata at the deadline. I'm a big Benning supporter but if he loses him for nothing after a first round playoff exit I'd be PO

The sad part is that this is a decent possibility. Hopefully the team is sitting 10th or lower by the TDL.

If you find decent possibilities sad you are in for a lifetime of disappointment.

It depends entirely on whether or not some kids are ready to step up and fill those spots, that's the beauty of having a strong prospect system.

I'm not really expecting much out of this management group so I think I'm pretty much okay with anything at this point

Also, my views on this team don't represent my views on life(I'd probably be on Patullo Bridge by now otherwise ).

FYI by tomorrow morning I'll have a draft date set in the pool and anyone who hasn't re-joined will be replaced.

If anyone is interested in joining this year, PM me and I'll send you the details tomorrow.

Best case scenario, they are 10/11th approaching the deadline, they trade expiring contracts for picks, and the youth they bring up to fill out the roster shine, they end up making the playoffs and beat out teams they traded with to make those acquired picks even more valuable.

Yup, I think it will also depend on how those vets are performing. If vrbata is playing great and the team is in the playoffs, I really doubt he is moved.
