How did I miss this?

McDavid. Looks like he might play the season with Hall on his left side. He's faster than he has any right to be, he can dangle, he can shoot, his passing is outrageous. He's the real deal.

If Edmonton plays McDavid as their #1 center and he lines up against the team's best Dmen every night......it will be a long hard season for him. If he gets some third line and power play opportunities, he will be fine.

People forget how hard it was for McDavid to handle the big bodied players in the playoffs last year.

By "how hard it was for McDavid to handle the big bodied players in the playoffs last year," you mean scoring 49 points in 20 games, then no, I don't think anyone forgets that.

I was just going to write the same thing. If 49 pts in 19 games is what you call a "struggle" than watch out when he gets his footing in the NHL

All of them.

Again, how can anyone answer this question when not a single one of them has so much as suited up for an NHL preseason game, let along a regular season game?

While I agree with the consensus, Michael Pachla's proposed statline, for McDavid, is preposterous.

Not a single player hit 90 points last year but a rookie, regardless of how great he should be in the long run, is going to crack the 100 point barrier this season.

I'll buy him winning the calder but he will not be in the Art Ross scoring race this season. This isn't the same league that Gretzky or Lemieux broke into. Every team has above average goaltending and attention to defensive detail, league-wide, is greater now than it has ever been before.

this X 1000

its very rare that an 18 year old comes into the league and puts up huge numbers (Tanner guaranteeing he gets 70pts)

If I am Edmonton I would be more then happy with a 25g 25a type of season. No need to be lining him up against the Weber's/Suters of the west who will literally try put him through the boards any chance they get.

Last thing you want is a shoulder injury ala RNH because you rushed him too quickly to play with the big boys. Sheltered minutes that steadily increase throughout the season is the best play IMO.

I think it was Cruz FM (95.7). They were going on about how this Metro station is such a mess and then read your tweet. I found it quite amusing Hopefull we won't have to call out a Metro Line anytime soon...

McDavid. Not that his peers are bad. On the contrary, he could be just that good.

Crosby and (I think) Ovechkin. Ovechkin might have been a year older, but he still accomplished the feat in his rookie season.

Ask the question at the All-Star break...
Easy to say McDavid but he is the odds on favorite.
Because advanced stats are everything these days, regardless of his play, we'll need to wait for his corsi and possession numbers before he can get real consideration.

Yeah thats why I said its very rare. Again, I think Oilers fans should be hoping for a 50pt season. If it was anything lower then that MAYBE you could be a bit dissapointed. At the end of the day your still gonna have this kid going shelf for the next 10-15 years in copper and blue
