I think this kid could score 20 goals if given a bigger role. I think he could be a Lucic type player.

Has anyone heard what either sides terms are? Its been pretty quiet (as have all negotiations...). Speaking of, is there any concern on the lack of noise from the Gio extension??

Ferland has tons of upside, but with such a small sample size, I think you need to err on the side of caution a bit. I wonder if the sticking point is the one-way vs two-way deal.

I think it has to be stuck on the one way thing
I think they should consider doing a 2-3 year deal where the first year is two-way, and the second is 1 way kinda like Ortio's deal

In response to the 1way/2-way discussion since this website is not letti g me respond directly to other comments.....AGAIN!!!! Why bother? He would have to clear waivers and i doubt he would pass through without being claimed. Save some $ at he NHL level and give him a 1st way, if that is all that is holding things up.

How is Ferland not still waiver exempt?

Another unenviable contract negotiation for Treliving, especially considering how Ferland kind of came out of nowhere to be the number one reason the Flames made the second round.

Give him a 1- 2 year prove it contract! The guy is going to play for the Flames, he's a Burkie type player! Now that he's got his life straightened out, he'll only get better, not saying top 6 yet but definitely should see some pp time in front of the net.

Not the only reason the Flames advanced to the second round, but he sure had the Canuck D wondering where he was! Him and Bouma [7th overall in hits] should make up a great shutdown line. Wrecking havoc on the forecheck! Weather it's Backland or 19 year old Sam Bennett centering them, this line will be huge! Kinda hope it's Bennett, kid has that sandpaper attitude, with raw talent to make this a great line!

Too bad the Flames didn't retain McGratton's services as a coach. Could you imagine him working with the young guys teaching them how to defend themselves, if needed! IMO that's all Monahan is lacking to become a true superstar! And why I think 19 year old Sam Bennett may turn out better! We can only hope!

I'm pretty sure it's because he signed at age 20 and is now into his 4th year as a pro. I know, I didn't get it either for the longest time but it's true.
