I would pay a million dollars, to walk in that locker room and scream at every single one of them, and let them know how much I think they can really suck when they want to. Guess someone mentioned it was the Sabres, I don't think I remember a season where they played down to crappy competition so consistently.
Edit: In hindsight, obviously, in many ways they did not play down to the level of their comp tonight. But, in the most important way, they did, which is not finding a way to the win column. They have done that too much. Left not just OT points on the board, but points where all it would have taken was a little finish, a little extra work on the boards, taking a look before simply dumping the puck from behind the net onto opposing teams tape at the blue line. Am I going on a PC rant? Maybe, I hope he swallowed his Copenhagen tonight, living groundhog day as he sees his team spend large amounts of time dominating and making every opposing goalie look like the Dominator along the way. I don't know if Tuukka has got into their heads in practice, but it's a pity to think a little finish would erase so many questions this season has had to offer, regardless of the obviously impact injuries to Chara and Krejci.
You know what? It's St. Paddy's and I got to calm myself and go periscope down.
Thanks for all the work, Ty. |

The Habs series last year definitely foreshadowed the lack of "finish" in this team. And I keep thinking back to the Caps the year after the Cup.......we have, at least in the past, had a tendency to make goalies look like superstars that otherwise are very average.
We have always had a team that will out heart and soul the other. That's the very essence of playing "bruins' style" hockey, and why blue collar fans in New England love this team when they are rolling.
But, when the team moves too far to the "grinding" end of the spectrum, personal wise, this inability to score will always be an issue. This reminds me of teams from the late 90's early 00's that's taking tons of shots, but not "finishing."
Bergy, Marchand and Ericksson are the best skill players on this team AND the first thing to come to mind when you think of them is there grinding two way play and shut down defense.
Maybe Pasta and Spooner can start the pendulum swing the other way, but a sniper would be HUGE and is definitely a needed area of improvement for next seasons team.
Even of the group Bergy, Ericksson, Marchand, Pasta and Spooner; Marchand is the closest we have to a "sniper." The other four seem more like "playmakers."
Damn, I miss that speed down the RW wall, beating the D-man to the outside and then the perfect snipe over the goalie's glove pinging off the corner where the post and crossbar meet into the back of the net. We had a kid that used to do that........
My two cents. |

Joe Frasier pounded Ali for the entire fight and it only ended cuz he couldn't see out of his left eye and his trainer threw in the towel.
Smokin' Joe wanted to go back out. Ali had told his corner man to cut off his gloves cuz he couldn't handle any more punishment from Joe.
Ali was never the same after that fight.
Some say his dementia and Parkinson's were a direct result of the beating he took from old Joe.
Ali won the battle, Joe won the war... |

This is why we got Brett Connolly. Guaranteed he's our most lethal shooter once he's in the lineup. I think between he, Pastrnak, Eriksson the team will have enough "natural" scorers to get by.
Also, I know people tend to forget because Spooners been producing, but Krejci still isn't playing. He is a much much better player than Spoons and I think the offense will start to pick up again once he returns

Absolutely pathetic. A new low and I got to witness it live. Thankfully they serve alcohol. What a (frank)ing joke of an effort last night. They all should be bag skated. Twice. |

Was it really THAT bad? I didn't really watch, I was too busy being belligerently drunk. Between the stats and what Ty wrote I got the impression they played well just couldn't finish. Games like last night are pretty much how the Sabres have won all their games |

You hit the nail right on the head with this one. We have some great forwards on this team... decent depth- but until we have a TRUE finisher up front, it's all for naught. Eriksson isn't it, Smith isn't it, Lucic and Marchand are gritty wingers with some skill but they aren't really it. Pastrnak may develop into something close to it a few years down the road when he adds some weight to his frame and actually initiates with his body instead of playing on the periphery with his stick. My gut feeling is that needs to come from outside and those guys aren't a dime a dozen. The 'core' will have to be shuffled to obtain that 'go to' guy |

IMO yes it was. They played way down to the Sabres when they should have just rolled them in regulation and taken 2 points. |

Home game against the Sabres on St. Patty's day AND the Sabres played Monday night!
How does that in any shape or form, result in a shootout loss. The Bruins make no sense. They were a -470 favourite last night and I'm sure a lot of people took that juice and got complete f-uckin screwed. Luckily I just took in a parlay |

What an idiot I am. He hasn't been playing and was thinking of our lines right now but, he slipped my mind.
Again though, he is another playmaker. The point I was trying to make is that the Bruins lack a goal scorer.
FYI.....most skilled guy may be a stretch since Bergy is usually the goal and point leader and takes the tougher lines. |
