A bit of a snoozer last night, not much flow to the game, looking forward to the Cali team games.

How about a mind room?

The NHL needs to do something to stop this race to the bottom and the McDavid Cup. In one night, one team sets the record for fewest shots against and the other goes zero for October.

No kidding, why would anyone want to attend a game? Even at no charge?

Maybe someone needs a quiet place to do some studying. Or philosophical contemplation?

Do you mean at the tanking team's home or on the road?

Believe it or not there are some fans who only want to see a guaranteed win.

When I had season tickets there were people who didn't want to buy tickets to good opponents because the canucks 'will probably lose'. I had an easier time selling the games to the crappy teams.

Why?

If you want to spot it then get rid of the draft. No one wants that so you have to put up with some franchises who dog it to get a better shot at the 1st overall.

Why not have the team with the most points but missing the playoffs get the highest chance. This would prevent tanking and the lowest teams still get high picks but just not as good. Why reward tankers and lack of trying ?

So you are punishing the worst team in the league on the suspicion of tanking?

The idea of the draft to to create a sense of parity throughout the league. In most cases it works but there are a few incidences where you can tell teams are tanking it.

I doubt Carolina is tanking, yes they have been bad but they have had injuries to their 3 best players and don't have a very deep team to begin with. They have spent significant money bringing in free agents or trading for good players, while it hasn't been successful to start the season, I don't think its fair to label them as tankers yet.

Buffalo on the other hand has done everything in its power to dump vets in exchange for picks and youth. Is that tanking or rebuilding?

There have been multiple ways of making tanking less profitable. They did change the odds to help with it. I think they should put every team that misses the playoffs in a lottery ball machine with even odds. Maybe only pick the top 3-5 teams from that then go by finishing position. That would stop it right there.

Right now if you finish in the top 2 spots you are guaranteed a top 3 pick. That is enough incentive to tank still.

The money lost by the team for the tanking years when no one wants to watch has to hurt franchises that are not wealthy.

I would argue you get less parity if teams tank or have fire sales just to be the worst team.

I believe they are changing the draft in 2016 to make it very hard for the last place team, out of the bottom five teams, to get the best pick.

Boy that "Lord of the Rinks" guy drives a hard bargain. He wants some of the best players in the league (Toews/Johansen) for his average goaltending…bugger!!

With 5 of 15 categories and min 3 starts... a starter is worth those players.

I've got the perfect solution:

Keep all of the rules the exact same as they are currently, with one small addendum:
When the gm with the first overall pick climbs the stage he has to be riding a miniature donkey while wearing nothing but cowboy boots, a banana hammock emblazoned with the team logo, and nipple pasties.
No more tanking.

What's with the swapping all those picks for seemingly nothing in the Yahoo draft? Explanation Nucker?

Vantel trades a 1st and 3rd round picks to Turd for 17th and 18th round picks? No players?

KB3 trades a 2nd and 3rd round picks to Turd for 19th and 20th round picks? Again no players?

Nucker trades a 3rd round pick to Turd for a 21st round pick? Again again no players?

Or am I reading it wrong…just wondering...

Not to me they're not, you don't (frank) yourself on the other ten cats to get better at five?

short term but I think it evens it out in the long term, I think there is actually very few instances where teams have tanked. The media loves to talk about it but professional players who have worked all their lives at making it into the NHL don't just decide to throw it in to get some young player.

Mgmt definitely can tank by moving good players and playing young or bad players but it is a fine line between resetting, rebooting, rebuilding and tanking. It all comes down to trying to improve the team.

Those were picks traded during the draft, we had to process them after.

Not franking yourself if your team is deep enough in the other categories... but goalies representing 33% of your points being only 15% of your dress-able team makes them very valuable.
