For some reason I though Ryan Wilson was like 20 years old...

That's not meant as an insult, unlike when I call James Tanner a 14 year old (which absolutely HAS to be true...)

It doesn't seem that bad. I routinely dunk myself in cold water to cool off on days where it is like 30 degrees. Lets see some of these when there is snow on the ground and we are waiting for a game to start.

That is quite the name drop you have thrown out there!

The thought crossed my mind to challenge him but I'm still scared he might take my ice time away.

3 days till Rutherford makes the ultimate sales pitch and brings Hayes to Pittsburgh

To be honest, I'm surprised the Pens didn't run into this issue with all the young defenseman we drafted while already having a deep D unit in the NHL. You'd think one of those kids would be hesitant to sign here knowing the uphill battle it would be for playing time.

Good job, Wilson Family!

I completed my challenge and then challenged some other people too. I tried to get the family involved but they declined.

That'd be nice. Add another young talent to the pot. Hopefully there won't be any cap issue. I read he can't be signed for more than $925,000 though...

For sure. Maybe a bit of a stretch he would choose Pit, but money is the same across the board. He can only get an ELC I believe. So, all anyone can offer is playing time or a buddy/brother on the team. We can offer playing time with the greatest player in the world, a perennial contender, and apparently a cousin in the front office. That's got to be better than going to hockey hell in Florida to be with his brother...

The biggest roadblock with the Pens is that it'd be hard for us to guarantee him a spot on the NHL roster right now. He could very likely become a top 6 wing next to Sid or Geno... but this season? I doubt it.

BTW -- nice #IBC haha....nice to see some faces on here

Yeah, I just read that. $925,000 ceiling. So that's good.

Thanks! I hadn't expected the challenge but was happy to accept. You can follow me on Twitter if you have one.

That would be a good way of spending the remaining $$$ we have. Hayes for under $0.9M would make sense.

We have to believe those young guys know we had a coaching change with Johnston (who's used to the young guys) and they'll get a chance in Pitts.

Yea, its a no-brainer. Position of need. Give up no assets. Just dont know if its a pipe dream.

The remaining cap space should be left untouched unless we get an option like Hayes. We don't need to target any more bottom 6 guys or take a flier on a retread anymore, imo, and we need some free cap space for future moves, etc.

I don't see signing Hayes as a pipe dream. New coaching that likes to work with youngsters+top 6 forward missing+contender+great sports city. Hell I'd sign with Pittsburgh right away

He's also cousins with Tom Fitzgerald which may bode well for the Pens.

Finally, faces to the names. This is what Summer should be about. Better than the endless lineups and arguing over Spaling. Very glad everyone that can and is invited to take part is following through with the ALS challenge.
