PK Subban is the man! He can do it all, I loved him in the postseason. You don't see too many d-men put a team on his back and carry them, very often these days.
But PK was an total beast vs The Bruins in the playoffs. Not only didnt he back down from an antagonistic Bruins squad & some racist fans, he put em down!!
Sabre fans should be able to appreciate the magnitude of such a feat... remembering a night when the Milan Lucic steamrolled our franchise goaltender, broke the spirit of this organization, & ultimately signified the beginning of the end for The Ruff/Regier Era in Sabres history.
MTL is really lucky to be able to build around a guy like that, & with the salary cap going up... Having a few big contracts will soon become the norm for every club.
To bad for us Myers wasn't more like Subban. PK just works (as my franchise player, as my captain, as my #1 d-man, PP qb), pay the man.
Myers & Hodgson to MTL, for PK!!
Ill pay Subban $9 mill/yr & he'll be happier than all get out. Guys like Subban, Doughty, Towes, Kane.. These guys are what the modern NHL is all about!! |

you're not getting an allstar defenseman for a soft 2nd or 3rd line center and an underachieving defenseman who hasn't come close to his rookie year. That's like me suggesting we could offer Bailey, Grabner and a pick. It's not even in the same ballpark.

Myers, Ennis, and the NYI 1st rd pick in '15 for PK?
- a NHL ready replacement blueliner
- a top 6 forward
- a 1st rd pick in a highly anticipated draft |

My phone fails at responding today, but Myers and the Sabres 1st,along with Ristolanin is about where Montreal starts listening. Ennis isn't a top six on a good team and the isles with a top 4 dman could make the playoffs. PK is the dominant offensive defenseman in the league, you're not getting him for less |

Just quit with the nonsense . You are overpaying . Wait till Myers has talent around him. |

His proposal is an Overpayment for subban? Maybe for Malcolm subban. Stars make their linemates better, see JT and Boyes, Moulson, PA. If Myers was that good he'd be able to carry a partner. He's not there yet |

At the moment Id say no but at the deadline if we see the Islanders on the bottom of the standings Id do this deal without much thought. |

I love Subby-doo! The guy is solid and arguably the best d-man in the league. MTL is very luck to have this kid playing there to be sure. But.....they should trade him.
Let me explain. He will get 8x8 and anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional. But let's be honest...these type of contracts very seldom work out...for either party. We have seen over and over this past year or two. Many of these so-called cap-friendly long-term contracts are anything but friendly in any sense of the word. The players almost always fail to live up to them and the teams seem to suffocate under them and the fans get to experience massive fits of frustration and anger because their new messiah is not singlehandedly resurrecting their team to achieve the ultimate glory known as the Stanley Cup. Then, after a few years of gurgling and flailing as they drown, the buyout talk begins. Hey, I'm not making this up. Proof is in the pudding folks.
Therein lies the answer for MTL. Marc Bergevin should be calling every team in the league to gauge the return for a guy like Subban. The first team he should call....The Edmonton Oilers. Would it be reasonable to expect that EDM might be willing to part with one of their top three (Nuge, Hall or Eberle), Yakupov, Marincin and/or Klefbom + their 1st next year? Maybe MTL has to include another piece to make it work?
Two things enter the thought process here......EDM is dying for a personality like Subban on their backend. Throw in that he is as good as he is and the fact that the fans are rabid and ready to revolt....it makes sense for the Oil. Instant win for them on the ice and at the gate. Now, as for Montreal, they have every right to expect to get a kings ransom for a player like Subban. And a kings ransom they would get. Any deal that would involve Subban would have to be a doozy.....a real blockbuster.
The reason for the trade.....Subban has, is and will continue to be a major distraction for the Montreal Canadiens. Now, consider if he does fail to live up to this new contract. The distraction level now jumps through the roof. Not a good situation either way.
Sadly, in the end though, Marc Bergevin will likely stray far away from incurring the unholy wrath of the Montreal fan base and just sign Subban to a deal for the all the ages. After all, it is the safe thing to do really. Not necessarily the right thing or the best move for the team at large, but safest none-the-less.
But if you ask me....I'd trade him because in 2-3 years the talk will be all about whether or not to buy Subban out. Just wait and see. |

While i don't disagree with most of what you say, and i would love PK on the oilers, based on the oilers depth chart i don't see them willing to trade nuge at this point without having another 1C available. i also doubt they are willing to trade hall either, no much the face of the franchise in my opinion and too dominant.... Eberle on the other hand would likely be available as would yakupov, but not both. that would deplete the RW and leave teddy purcell.
i would forsee a trade similar to something like this being proposed by edmonton. it may not fit MTL's wish list but its what EDM would reasonably be willing to part with

Alright top 5 for sure, but no way I take him over Doughty, Weber, or Petriangelo. Id put him with Keith , Karlsson, and Suter. |

Sure, I'd agree that EDM would lowball but this deal would only be the starting point. One of the top three would have to be included as well. I get this is all for not but good fodder just the same.
