Not sure I would want to face Sharp a few times each year, but Kesler would look good in a Hawks uniform. Thanks for the update JJ! |

TT, Leddy and the 27th
Anything less won't happen as Anaheim can offer the 10th plus two other pieces like Etem and Theodore and they still wouldn't take a hit to their future. They have tons of depth. |

Tanev seems to be in a holding pattern. Sharp, Leddy for Kesler, Tanev would allow the Hawks to shop both Oduya and Leddy, IMO. Would Mark Fayne be on the Hawks radar at all JJ? defensive dman, can hit, would look real nice on the 3rd pairing. |

Indeed. Also, are the Canucks even looking too acquire someone like Sharp? |

Not in disagreement.
But if you're Benning, you def want the most "sure" things. Of all the assets you mention, those are Nick Leddy and Teuvo Teravainen. Teravainen is probably going to be a better player than Etem, Leddy might already be. When all the lights go on for Leddy, he could be a very, very good NHL defenseman and he certainly has moments now.
The 10th pick? That could be another Mikhail Yakubov or Kyle Beach. And this is not a great draft.
The other question I would ask is, while it's pretty much common knowledge Chicago is on Kesler's list, is Anaheim? I've never actually heard that. |

My concern is the cap since the Hawks add more, unless Roszival and Versteeg can be moved. |

Since JJ said "Now, if the Hawks deal Sharp and not Teravainen, second line left wing is now vacated and that could be a nice, lower pressure spot for Teravainen to acclimate himself to a Top 6 NHL role."
TT-Toews-Hossa (two 2 way players with Kane-ish talent)
Saad-Kesler-Kane (two 2 way players with Kane-talent)
That is 2 #1 lines on one team folks. I say Sharp goes for that |

It is so nice to be able to talk hockey on here. Just transfered to Jacksonville, FL from Minnesota. If one more person asks me if I am a Redskins fan after seeing the Hawks tow hitch cover, plate frame, hat, or shirt, I am going to flip! |

I don't understand why Patrick Sharp is on the block. You talk about proven leadership and history of success and how he would be an asset to any team, but isn't he an asset to the Chicago Blackhawks? Why is everyone trying to run him out of town for equivalent or inferior players? I just don't get it. Moving a top 5 player and alternate captain on your team for a second line center is not an upgrade. |

Hey John...
I have been reading this guys rumors on and off for about 8 years....Never been close to correct, not even with the Sens who he is supposedly wired into.
The point is Kelser has some control but in the end he will end up where the Canucks feel they get the most value and are shielded from the backlash this deal could cause.
Bruce Garrioch of the reported the following yesterday in the Ottawa Sun: “In the case of Kesler, he requested a trade last fall and only wants to go to either the Chicago Blackhawks or Pittsburgh Penguins.”
So by past performance I wouldn't put any stock in the comment above...
That said it is a safe bet most players would have the Hawks high up on their list. |
