I'm sure Linden will be assessing Shero's ability to be the Canucks GM, although I'm not sure he is the right person moving forward. His choice to bring in Morrow, Murray, Jokinen and Iginla certainly costs them in the long run (3 prospects, 5 draft picks), that to me, makes Gillis look almost intelligent.

But as a fan, WTF do I know.

I don't think that assessment would take long.

I'd be alright with Bylsma. Guy is a good coach who eventually lost his team full of superstars. Any coach would suffer the same fate

Personally, if you have all that talent and can't perform at home in a game 7, then that's not on the coach. At some point if you're supposed to be considered the best player in the world (Crosby) and almost just as good (Malkin), then if you're going to lose, it BETTER be in 4OT from a bad bounce.

Yeah, I read, it's why I think Toews is the best player in the world, 2 Cups, and clutch in the money in the playoffs (same with Kane). If he wins it again this year, then I'd rather him be the face of the NHL then Sympathy Crutch.

That's not fair either. A) hawks are deeper then anybody b) Toews did squat the last 3 playoffs including last yr.

I'll say this though. I don't like Kane but he is as good of player in a big game is there is out there.
Judging the best player in the world by how much his team wins is foolish

I agree that it's a bit overblown. I find it hilarious when people talk about role players like 3rd liners as "winners", put that (frank)er on Edmonton the last few years and show me how much of a winner he is. It's a team sport, you need good management, coaching, development, personalities, talent, and whether like to admit it or not there's a decent amount of luck involved in the playoffs, gotta stay healthy and have a few bounces/calls go your way.

You can't go solely on stats, you could be the best scorer in the league, but if you aren't winning Cups, then you're not the best player in the world. It's the same reason why Dan Marino isn't considered a better QB than Montana even though he had better stats, Montana got 5 rings and Marino had none.

I'd argue that the Penguins are just as deep and Chicago has some of the same problems and weaknesses that the Penguins do. The only difference is that Toews has won twice AND in a stronger conference against better competition overall.

You are flat out of your mind if you think the pens are as deep as the hawks

Ok, maybe not AS deep, but deep enough. The point I'm trying to make is that Crosby might be the best SCORER, but because he hasn't won more Cups that Toews, isn't the better player overall. I just think if you're going to say who the best player in the world is at this moment, you can't just rely on stats, you have to factor in Cup wins and how valuable that player is to his team.

I agree with almost all of this. But some depth. 3rd line guys are winners. Shaw? Draper? Its no lucky bounce that these guys always scored timely goals for there teams
As far as Edmonton is concerned. Its hard to look like a winner when everybody else on the team doesn't care. There is some great talent on that squad but almost to a man they need to act like pros and that they want to go somewhere

I agree, but you can't avoid the stats either, and like I said, the last 3 playoffs Toews was average at best. I get a little sick of how people put guys like him and messier as gods because they annually played for a statacked team
