Fire your head of amateur scouting, I dont think you guys have a homegrown talent on the roster since 2008 besides Maatta and Bennett.
Seems like a lot of misses with the draft picks, teams need to be lucky and find good servicable NHLers in the later rounds. |

Even if we can trade for the rights of Babcock coaching here, the price to pay as in assets would be very very high.
Maybe some of Babcock has rubbed off on Tom Renney, his assistant. You don't have to pay anything to get him. Don't know though about if he is the answer. |

Time will tell what will happen. Not a Disco Dan fan. Shero should be on a short leash. One more round of all defensive picks and I would slap him on the face. |

Love him hate him or anywhere in between Madden usually has his finger on the pulse of the organization.

Shero is spared, but leash is very short. Another embarrassing downfall like what transpired versus the Rags should be the end of him. He has alot to address with the roster and the draft. We do have our first round pick as we speak. Hopefully its for the best forward. |

You go after Blashill, who is their air apparent for the Red Wings in Grand Rapids. The price will come down for Babcock.
Edit: If Blashill were to become coach, hope fully he brings his staff with him. Jimmy Paek is one of his assistants |

Holland said he will not let other teams talk to Blashill (who also has just 1 year left on his contract). Both will be with the Wings next season. Losing both a year from now would be catastrophe for Detroit. |

Fire both. Those that make the mess are incapable of fixing it.
Love the Babcock idea. Won't happen. Detroit isn't dumb enough to do it. |

*If* Shero stays, the process and personnel devoted to scouting and player development needs a complete overhaul. With as much gets devoted into the organization to make it the top in the NHL, its alarming to say the least that they struggle so much to develop players. Its hard to tell whether this is a result of scouting the wrong guys, or a failure to develop them, or both. Even tough they have traded away a fair number of picks over the years, they have gotten almost nothing from the ones that remained to fill in the bottom 6...and every now and then, you should be able to find a guy like Ryane Clowe (6th round pick just an example) who becomes a top 6 contributor in the lower rounds.
Especially galling to me is how the Pens are missing out on high end talent like Saad and Gibson coming right out of their backyard. With all their promotion of youth hockey over the years was no one doing any actual scouting?!?!?! How good would Brandon Saad look in this top 6 group?
Whoever the GM is going forward, whether Shero or not, they need to look at trading some of these young defensemen they are hoarding for some younger wingers with skill and grit to help fill out the bottom 6 and maybe even one of the top 6 roles. |

Does his contract preclude him from taking an NHL job over an AHL one? If so, Blashill should fire his agent. |

Shero or someone else ... The core of the team is Crosby, Malkin, maata , Kunitz and Martin... Everyone else should be available ... Scuderi has to go ... Shero or his replacement needs to find a taker even if retaining salary... Bylsma has to go... Mismanagement of young players, questionable lineup decisions and 4 playoff runs with loses to lesser seeds... |

But ... neither Gibson or Saad were PMDs and that was the only thing that Shero was collecting. The deal with Dallas caused alot of this foolishness I believe. His thinking, if Alex G., can bring Neal and Niskanen, I can stock my roster up and down the lineup by trading them. Yet, the guy he passed on both Saad and Gibson for, Joe Morrow, was traded for an aging rental.

Babcock probably has at least another decade of coaching in him. If you want to keep Blashill, then you'll have to choose soon. If teams want to hire Blashill as a head coach, and the wings refuse to let him interview, he'll have less inclination to stay with the organization after his contract runs out. Why would he want to stay in the AHL or as an assistant with Detroit when he could be a head coach in the NHL? |

I think Babcock is pretty imbedded in the Detroit area. His kids go to the same school as my cousins. I think he is pretty involved and he has had his own thing going for some time there.
I know changes need to be made, they must be. Not sure who is more to blame SHero or Byslma. I go back and forth. |

Oh no doubt. Given Babcock's expressed interest in going year to year on his contract after this one expires, I could see Blashill moving up within the next couple years. Especially as all of the prospects Blashill has been coaching for the last few years graduate to the NHL, bringing him up with them makes sense.
That being said, I have zero desire to watch the wings play against a Babcock coached team. |

What's wrong with mining the best of the talent that is right in your backyard? I'm not saying they have to draft every kid that comes out of MTL, USC, and Hampton, but the question needs to be asked is looking at Pgh area players as a source of talent something the Pens actively do? In the end, I don't really care whether the talent comes from Slovakia, Saskatoon, or Sarver, but they need to do a better job mining it. |
