Trade Pittsburgh our whole 2nd line for Malkin (Higgins / Kesler / Hansen)

I can't believe Crosby was even on that list. There's dreaming and then there's lunacy.

And I'm calling it right now, Vantel and 1 or 2 others are gonna have an argument about Sutter's value in this thread.

i think bylsma would be a good fit for vancouver. i have only met him a few times but he is very engaging no matter how many people are bugging him. he never brushes off fans, interviewers, etc. still runs around the city every morning before the first practice, will talk to anyone if stopped.

Positives: he lets the players create, changes lines to look for combinations, is good with the media, very thoughtful on his responses, open to his asst coach suggestions and credits them so you know who had the idea for line changes, etc

Negatives: he is loyal to veterans for past performance or 'his guys' instead of evaluating constantly and rewarding, changes line combinations too frequently, doesnt match lines when given the opp to do so. is more of an 'we will impose our will' sort of coach than playing chess. outward appearance is no accountability to players who make the same mistakes/take same penalties.

Shero or whoever is in charge of your amateur drafting needs a wake up call. Just looking at Pens first round draft picks, since the 2008 draft selecting Bortuzzo, there is no home grown talent outside Bennet and Maatta. Been striking out in the draft and trading away too many picks on rentals

If Bylsma can't win with the Pens roster, what the hell is he going to do with Vancouver's?

I'd love to get James Neal, but from watching him with and without Malkin it's clear he needs an elite playmaker beside him to generate his offense. Neal would have to play with Henrik Sedin exclusively for us to generate any value from his presence.

Please please please do not trade for Sutter. I can't believe how many people have been impressed that his line won their matchup against the Rangers' 3rd line. If Crosby and Malkin's lines struggled, can you imagine what Sutter would have done against the same match-ups?

you dont replace 2nd line duties in Kesler with Sutter, you cant stretch out his abilities, I like sutter but hes not a 2nd line C, especially in a tougher bigger Centermen Western Conference.

Problem with Canuck fans drooling over other teams 3rd liners is that we have like 5 or 6 3rd liners on this team.

Target higher upside players, not career 3rd liners.

The Canucks already lack 2 top 6 forwards. Trading Kelser for Sutter makes us the front runner for McDavid.

Finish it off by trading Henrik for another David Booth and we're set!

I always appreciate Carol's insight into things Canuck. Just wondering if she could comment on Eklund's comments re Bylsma and specifically his lack of systems and the lack of emotion shown by Pittsburgh - both of which fall on the coach. Is that really the kind of coach we want? We need someone that can get the best out of the players we have and instill some emotion into their play.

Speaking of picking the carcass, I'd like to revisit bringing Jussi Jokinen as a solid 2nd line utility player. Was impressed with his output this season + playoffs, he's also a SO specialists which this team needs in a desperate way.

You know someone is goign to give him a 4.5m cap hit contract based on his numbers this playoffs and season. Not worth it in my opinion but if you get him under 4m, a steal

Agreed. I was on here pushing for us to get him when PIT did. Having a guy like that on your team at 2.1m is a great piece of cap management.

Say, what did think of PA Parenteau? Think he'll be traded?

Isn't Eklund a Philly fan? Can he provide an unbias take on the Pens? I think not.

I agree, but didn't he go through waivers and 28 other teams didn't bite as well.

He has looked pretty good in Pittsburgh though.
