Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Coaches on the Hotseat: Who'd be Best in Vancouver? A look at NHL coaches who could be looking for other employment this summer if their teams can't get out of the first round, and who might be best for the Canucks.

When Gillis crapped the bed on bringing Raffi back... It didn't take long to nose dive.

Big mistake not bringing him back.

I have heard two different stories, Canucks were okay letting him walk, didn't offer him a contract or SJ outbid the Canucks.... Either way, yes it was a big mistake.

Teams need that edgy player to make space and keep the other team distracted. Canucks are lacking in that area since Torres and even to a lesser extent Lappy left.

Can't get over how many people are in love with Dan Bylsma. If he can't make it work with the Pens, what hope would he have with the Canucks.

How did SJ outbid Gillis? He went to the Yotes first.

Bylsma -- NO THANK YOU!

err... so the Yotes outbid?

Either way, he walked and his skill set wasn't replaced.

I'd want to see a coach with a record and reputation of coaching different systems and success with different approaches and ability to communicate with different players. Tippet, Quenville, Babcock sort of guys that are seldom available would be on my ideal short list.

Sutter took the Flames to the Finals and took the struggling Kings to the Finals and won that one?He would be my coach but we don't have the players to play his style.

Is anyone really surprised by the officiating? Gary Bettman has always favored Canadian teams. Hates the sunbelt franchises. Always has.

Riiight. How many sunbelt teams have won the Stanley Cup vs Canadian Teams during Bettman tenure?

The rule may not be the best rule, but it is there to protect the goalie, the crease as his work space and his ability to move freely. Can't get over the uproar from the media. I guess they need something to b!tch about.

How many players still turn their back when they see they may be hit so the other player is forced to avoid the contact or take a penalty? When refs have to make calls based on the intent of the player it makes a bigger mess of the game.

It is not the goalies job to avoid the player behind him to let him out of the net or crease, the tender's job is to focus on the play and stop the puck.

edit: I hope the Jason Brough @JasonPHT tweet was meant as a joke.

I think he would help once we get there...

Not sure if Raffi was a torts kind of player...

Do we even have any Torts' kind of players? Santo? Gunslinger Bieksa?

I think the real issue here is that the TB player tried to get out of the net and subban wouldn't allow him to ... Then once he got the opportunity to leave the crease price dove on him .... Most in the media will say that while price was impeded from establishing his position it was due to his own player blocking the TB guy in .... That's a play where the ref can use the rule to waive off the goal or his own discretion and say the TB player was at no fault ... The fact that it was the difference in the game makes it that bigger of a deal

Is it Subbans fault he crashed the net in the first place?

Habs would be crazy not to expose it.

The guy was making a move to the net ... The d man forced him to either take out price or bail into the net ... He chose to not run the goalie ... after watching the entire play unfold I'd rather that be a goal than waived off IMO

I seen it 10 times or more, poop happens . He charged the net to create interference. Not the first questionable call on goalie interference that cost a goal in the playoffs won't be the last. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, this time it didn't .

The D did not force him with that light contact.

Not like he was Avery waving his stick blade in front of Brodeur.

I want the goal scoring and guys going to the net but don't like to see the goalies run over when they are in the crease either, is there any way to have both?

And the amount of variables that play out in real life and how the rule should be applied with respect to the letter of the rule, the intent of the rule and past application of the rule or past experiences from a similar rule. I wouldn't have been complaining if it wasn't called- but in reality I think if the guy is crashing into the net (not pushed by the defender) and impedes the goalie or gives him a good jostle, then the play should be whistled down and face off at centre. It is not the goalies job, in the crease, to get out of his way once he is behind him. The goalie should be able to be set in a position to make a save or freely get to the spot to make the save - totally doing his thing in his crease.

Yeah I agree there will be more ... I understand there is a need to protect the goalie but I feel they are starting to take advantage of a soft rule ...

My issue isn't with the d man forcing him in ... The d man being there just limited his options ....IMO he had a choice and went in to the net over taking out price ... And if he is allowed out right away maybe the goal never even goes in
