Even as a Canuck fan, the post-game interview definitely got to me as my Grandfather passed away not too long ago as well.

Agreed. Team could have also asked the league for permission before the game for him to be excused and I'm sure they would have allowed it.

that was harder to watch than the Kings playing Mary had a little lamb on the goal posts and dropping our 16th game out of 20 like it was 5th period French class.

Good post...I don't think anyone would have faulted Kaner for sitting this one out given the news, yet he used the sport we all love as a coping mechanism, and really shined. It's a sad story, and he really handled it well, interviews and all...
