If there is one thing we are good at, it is draft picks between 15-18 |

Travis Yost: In the Neutral Zone II - Travis Yost
Spezza quietly being sidelined by the coaching staff. He received no hit for ages and has a lower bidy injury. This is bullpoop. He's in the stands on purpose.
Lazar...I concur |

When do the SERIOUS Spezza trade rumours start in light of this alleged lower body injury?

Just to understand the chart, you just tracked how many times a player was on the ice when his team either carried it in or had to dump it in. Then you did the same on the defensive side of things, tracking ho many times the opposition had to dump it in or controlled carried it in. Then you just used the correlation between the expected shot attempts and the different zone entries?
Or did you not touch the zone entries part and this is just tracking real shot attempts for and against? |

Yes. Controlled entries expected shots 0.57; dump-in expected shots 0.25. Those are the weights.

Never. But being is last year..prone to injury and probably be requesting a raise (look at Phaneuf) I am not quite convince we should keep him.
but that's just me |

Spezza is clearly injured. You can tell by his skating. The team claims his injury is not related to his back surgery. But his skating is very hunched over this year compared to the past. I think he is still having back pain. |

I'm not advocating the trade of him. I'm more hoping that there's been a nagging injury that has prevented him from being the player we all know he can be- and some rest will alleviate or bring him back to his old self.
However, if the team keeps playing relatively well without him- management has to be looking at their situation down the middle and wondering if they can do without him, especially if the return is high. Turris, Zibanejad, Smith appear to be a pretty solid combination, with Lazar looking pretty good, waiting for his turn. I still think you need a veteran #1 C guy to keep some of the pressure off of the young guys, but it definitely has to make management think about it- specifically with the money issues plaguing this team. |

Yeah...problem is, he can't take the pressure. Remember the: "If you want to trade me, its fine by me" And with the injury...I don't see him returning to his old self anytime soon. Looks like is surgery didn't work.
I had High hope for him this season , but it all fell apart the first time I saw hi skate |

Exactly...but he hasn't been hit, like at all. That means that if this LB injury is real...the back surgery ahsn't work and this is bad news. |

Haha. It does hurt us to not have him playing 100% though. If he was at 100% and we could keep the Turris line intact- it wouldn't matter if our D was awful. |

Great effort Travis. Not exactly a dream job to extract those numbers, I guess.
So...Cowen and Spezza turned out to be the turnstile duo? I'm like totally shocked.

I would have to agree with you on this one Gord. I'm definitely an advocate to the team looking a touch better in the one game without Spezza, however, that could be attributed to the lack of man power on the back end of the Boston D. WE did do fairly well against the Pens that is on pace to surpass the 92'-93' Pens for wins in a season. Just dial back the intensity on the trade talk fellas. Management more than likely knew going into the season the risk that Spezza may not return to form, and yet they still gave him the "C." If he doesn't return to 100% then he may not be re-signed or he may at a much lower dollar figure. We won't know any of this until it happens. He's had the captaincy for 12 weeks and ppl are already running him out of town for his "inability" to provide a level of leadership to a young group. Everyone just needs to calm the (frank) down and enjoy a full season of hockey. |

Or maybe with a slightly more pragmatic approach: award players TOI according to actual results, rather than hypotheticals and wishful thinking. This would mean a somewhat more limited role for Spezza. Shorter shifts. PP, but no PK. |

this team is better without spezza. not saying spezza is or will continue to be a terrible player, but he isnt the type of player this team should build around. that being said i don't want to trade him for a bag of pucks, and it doesnt look like he'll get a big return based on the way he is playing. i just hope if we arent going to trade him, he agrees to a serious pay cut. |
