Vatanen was terrible in the rookie game I was at. Absolutely terrible. He got muscled by prospects! What is he going to do against real players?

I hope he picks it up and learns how to play against men.

How sick did Fasth's pads look though? The guy has the sickest setup in the league. I wouldn't worry about the rebound issue just yet, though. The leg pads look brand new which need to be broken in. Add the summer's rust and it makes sense.

The bigger problem is Fasth's five hole

Silfverberg is going to score a LOT of goals if he keeps doing what he did in today's scrimmage. If he doesn't have the puck, he heads straight to the net. Plus, the guy can play defense. It was refreshing to see, so unlike this other player the Ducks used to have, I forgot his name...
Also, the second line is Selanne-Bonino-Silfverberg unless something dramatic happens. And Etem, Palmieri, Maroon, and DSP all looked good. There is a good chance the Ducks will have 4 lines that can score this season.

- Lastly, the fans were great. Ducks fans don't get enough credit for being good, loyal and knowledgeable fans.

Knowledgeable: Maybe the ones on Hockeybuzz but not the fans that go to Honda Center.
Loyal: Nope
Good: Yes

Easy there. Does your P.O. Know you're on the Internet?

Love how a bail bonds company is a huge kings sponsor. The marketing dept of the team sure knows its audience.

Where do you think Palmieri fits in? Also, how possible is it that Etem doesn't make the team since he is on a two way contract and we have so many forwards on one-way deals.

Penner - Getzlaf - Perry
Silfverberg - Bonino - Selanne
Palmieri - Koivu - Cogliano
Beleskey - Holland/Rakell - Winnik

All these with exception of Holland/Rakell are on one way contracts and obviously Etem isn't going to play center, so I think he starts the season in Norfolk and comes up if someone isn't playing well or is hurt.

I can see switching out Silfverberg and Palmieri on those two lines depending on chemistry and who shines in camp.

Thoughts?

Maroon is on a one-way deal too and played really well in the scrimmage today. So did DSP but he's on a two-way. Gabby's got a lot of work to do. I wish he had that many options on the defensive side...

Basically the lineup will look like this unless someone else can step up and claim a spot:

penner-getz-perry
silfverberg-bonino-selanne
cogs-koivu-etem
palms-holland/winnik-winnik/beleskey

beauch-sbisa (we're screwed)
fowler-lovejoy
allen-vatanen

Penner and Palms can shuffle around but that's probably how they'll start the year.

I don't want to see Perry smiling, I want him pissed off and engaged, not content and floating like he was in the playoffs.

I don't want Penner anywhere near that first line. He's the only forward on the team slower than Getzlaf and Perry. Etem or Silfverberg need to be on that line to get in on the forecheck.

I don't know exactly which guys can play left wing or right wing and since basically the whole roster is RWs, this is just based on ability and not so much who can play on which side:

Silfverberg-Getzlaf-Perry
Etem-Bonino-Selanne
Cogliano-Koivu-Palmieri
Penner-Holland/Rakell-Maroon

Beachemin-Fowler
Sbisa-Lovejoy
Allen-Fistric

Hiller
Fasth

Scratches:
Rakell/Holland
Smith-Pelly
Lindholm
Souray (injured)

Am I forgetting anyone?

*EDIT: God, we need a real 2nd line center bad.

Haha yeah Ducks fans are a joke compared to all those Kings fans who started watching hockey a year and a half ago. Then again they have no idea that camp started because they're busy becoming brand new Dodger fans.
