You guys got 2 nasty good Dmen. The Mcbain deal was a pretty solid trade for you guys as well. I think you could have really used some elite level offense but the quality of the picks was good for the team overall.
How do you feel your 2 1st round selections spells out for Myers? |

Now that we realize Darcy rejected Sekera and 8 for McBain and 5, he absolutely failed. |

Amazing draft for you guys. Jealous. |

they must not have been too high on lindholm, and obviously wanted Risto over Nurse. We'll see how it pans out in 2-3 years |

He still swapped the 2 for a 2nd. I'd say the 2nd is more valuable that moving up 3 slots. |

With the price that cheap, it's idiotic to reject that. I'd even argue McBain is just as good as Sekera, while being cheaper. It'd be like moving up 3 free spots... |

Even so, getting Monahan would be FANTASTIC. Toews 2.0 in my opinion. |

I loved everything, except I wanted Valeri Nichushkin with the first pick, I would not complain about anything else. I wouldnt have minded Lazar with the second since we took D first, but hopefully they know what they are doing. |

Sabres won the draft.
Ristolainen and Zadorov were both good picks and McBain + for Sekera was robbery. - Morris
I'm especially excited about our 2nd round as well. Compher was a captain for the US U18 group for the WJCs, Hurley may have been the youngest in the draft, but he'd be a 1st next year IMO, and Bailey looks like Backes 2.0, not to mention he's a local kid who will try even harder to make the team. |

So thier for Darcy won that trade.he frees up cap and he gets an exta pick
and remember the first 10 picks in the second round are the hidden gem picks plus the fact that baily feel fell on our lap just in Credible or should i say justin Credible.

Absolutely no way Darcy would pick Risto at 5. I'm not saying Darcy didn't win that trade, we robbed Rutherford. It's simply that there was a MUCH better deal out there that we should've gotten instead. We still would've gotten Zadorov, Hurley, AND Bailey as well. The only guy we wouldn't have gotten would've been JT Compher. |

Ristolainen and Compher or Lidholm is essentially what it comes down to, right?

Rutherford was the one that mentioned it, and it was mentioned to Darcy in an interview as well. You can watch it if you like, it's the 1st story on the Sabres' website. Getting McBain, Monahan/Lindholm (5), Zadorov (16), Hurley (38), and Bailey (52) is miles better than getting McBain, Ristolainen (8), Zadorov (16), Compher (35), Hurley (38), and Bailey (52).
It's all speculation now, though. Risto could be the next Pronger, and Lindholm/Monahan could be the next Alex Volchkov or Svitov for all we know. |

the two in the second round is ok because that is depth
Grigorenko

Both Monahan AND Lindholm would bypass everyone but Grigorenko at center (at least not right away, eventually they would). Lindholm is a RW as well as a C, so it wouldn't even matter in his case. |

Miller, sure, just not Miller's contract. It's too rich and too short |
