Agreed...was on a Flyers thread earlier and people are stating his worth was a 2nd and a Phantom (prospect). I'd take Buff on my team any day of the week.
Can't for the life of me understand why his exit weight is evoking this intense amount of hate/judgement.

Sorry, I don't buy it.
There's no way that you can play in the NHL and not be hindered by 60 lbs of excess weight.
I don't care what his numbers were in 2013 - they would be better if he was in better shape.
Fans pay big money to watch the games - they expect and deserve that a guy completely dedicates himself to his craft.
Big Buff could be better. That's the bottom line. |

He'll likely come into next season weighing 270lbs...i dont know if i buy him weighing 302lbs at the exit weigh in. And if he did then i doubt that he weighed 280lbs or whatever they stated at the beginning of the season.
He'll start next season ready to go and if he performs as well as he has in the past his weight really shouldn't factor into the equation. Only way i see it as an issue is if he comes into next season out of shape and playing poorly. |

When you get to the playoffs Jets fans will see Buff's value.
I would be concerned about weight as he gets older. He did have some conditioning issues in Chicago. Harder to rebound physically and shed those pounds quickly in a few years for him. He can get away with dropping 30-40 quickly now but not much longer.
Make Buff angry and he is a beast on the ice. If he could stay motivated he would be among the best in the game. Still like him better at forward though.

Look at Melissa Mcarthy she has quietly made more money than any other woman over the past 18 months but she plays a goofy stupid dumb divorcee never the heroin. Yet people like her. Oh and she has a hit show on TV.
All that and yet, she was called by the gay Judge on Runway Model (I forgot his name and gay is just a description no smear) a whale and when the two stars are seen kissing he says it's absolutely disgusting - he shouldn't be surprised then when someone slurs his lifestyle. That's my point on this day in history we have come a long way in tolerance and understanding but when it comes to being an Endomorph the hate and ignorance is endless.
BTW Im 6"1 215 lbs I'm thick and I catch everyone off guard as I wear XXL shirts 38 waist and 31 length they always try to sell me a medium. I have had football teammates that would be considered overweight but I as a defensive back would not have wanted it any other way.

He can do things even at 300 pounds that most guys at 215 can only dream of. 255-275 is a good playing weight for him.

I'd tend to agree with you. Though i think if buff was 250 he'd be a lot faster and thats scary because he's fast enough now. I don't know about his cardio but he does play a lot of minutes though I think his shifts might be a tad shorter then most, he has more of them. I could be wrong there though. Agreed if buff would hit even chara would have a hard time staying on his skate never mind the smaller players in the NHL. THe only real concern for me is that he's only 6 4 and 300 is a bit much for that hight, you worry about his heart getting overworked. Doesn't seem to be a problem now but it might be towards the end of his career. Were I him i'd try and trim down a bit but i agree theres nothing wrong with his game and his weight doesn't effect it. There are too many idiots in the world without any hockey sense that would say he's bad because of his weight thats BS. |

No, you would know - and intimately - as he did many of them to your team of diving cheap shots.
2 series boots of the diving cheap shots called the Canucks - primarily because of Buff.

Buff is not a good fit for the Flyers. That's why no one here wants to give up more for him. We already have big, physical D men in LSchenn, Coburn, Grossmann, and a sometimes healthy Meszaros. We need dynamic puckmovers and all around speedier D men. Buff is a lot of good things but that he is not. |
