OK, my question: Why can't we have a cap ceiling and a cap floor for ticket prices? Since we have fans in Toronto, paying about 10 times the amount for their tickets, then a fan in Florida, where is the equality here? Revenue sharing has not helped this league, to the extent that the players have believed. The top 10 teams have been bailing out the bottom 10 teams for far too long now. A franchise should only get a two or three year window on turning their franchise around. If in that period of time, they can't make a go of it, then they should be forced to move or fold. As a Leafs fan, I'm sick of paying welfare to these deadbeat teams and want an end to the constant increases to the cost of going to a game in my home arena. I believe that a cap on ticket prices would help keep costs down, in some of these markets. It may not allow for a huge increase in league revenues, but there would be equality and price certainty, in all markets. |

Logan Couture Tweeted out the following... "Sorry to the fans and everyone who is hurt by this. It is not our choice. We want to play the way it is."
says it all, they dont want to give up anything, and keep the 57% which is much more than more popular and profitable/bring in alot more revenue sports (nfl, mlb, nba)
they all are at 50% or 48% (mlb)
the players better be prepared to give up some or we may not see hockey for a long long time (another season)

For it to have come to this in 7 years and a lock out is horrible. I won't spend a dime on anything for NHL for a long time, no EA NHL 13 no Sharks t-shirts or jersey that I buy every year. They saw this comeing for a long time and did nothing till the last minute. They could have started this process a year ago that would have given each side more than enough time to show what is and isn't working for both sides. Lock out for preseason or a whole season I'm taking that 2-4K I spend each year and find a new hobby to occupy my time. |

What is to blame is a high Canadian dollar - even surpassing the US dollar
Why does the American author of this site never acknowledge this simple fact
If the loonie goes down in value - the 3.3 billion industry is back down to its previous totals - |

Players will lose a lot more from this lockout than they will from a roll back in wages.
good for them.

Get used to it, because the U.S. can't stop printing and spending money. While the U.S. is spending well over a trillion dollars a year, than it takes in, and the Canadian economy is close to a balanced budget, it'll only widen the gap. Unless there is a change, after the next U.S. election, then the U.S. dollar is destined to fall further behind the Canadian dollar. |

Relocate 5 teams from the States - move them to Hamilton, Toronto, Quebec City, Sask and put one in the Maritimes |

Hey don't stick me in that boat, I believed it was always the owners stupidity that led to all this, now and 7 years ago.
Just ask Peter Karmanos and Jim Rutherford why they gave Fedorov that giant offersheet at the time. It was so "they seem like they mean business" to their own fans. Teams like that and decisions like that is what led to this |

Would definitely cut down the Revenue Sharing totals for the rich clubs
I also think that Sid should "Share" his RBK endorsement money with the other players and owners to the tune of 57% - I think that is "fair" - its HRR now isnt it?
He did say that they want a partnership - players are to blame for this fiasco |

Well said - if the NFL and NBA players are at 50% and below then what makes the NHLPA think they are ahead of those sports - the NHL is the 5th league in the US after college sports - |

Then why is he neck and neck with Romney? His handling of the Islamic uprising is striking! He looks utterly clueless and useless. His first test of strength and it's one big failure. Instead the press jumps on Romney for saying what needed to be said. The press is going to decide this election, if your not careful. |

Well, NFL is at 53% for the players if I'm not mistaken, but I agree they need to be somewhere close to 50-50. |

You know the worse thing... 18 teams (60% of owners) lost money last season. The owners are idiots for continuing to throw out huge contracts, but the players are also idiots if they refuse to lower their percentage of the revenue. 57% is laughable... It should be 50/50.

The press is by far on the left.
The thing that pisses me off most about Americans, most vocal people are either big mouth liberals or big mouth conservatives. I think the majority (percentage wise) are closer towards the middle, yet none of us speak up. Why do fringe minorities keep getting more and more rights while law abiding citizens keep getting the shaft? Because we don't speak up!
I don't like either of the two nominees. They are the same people just dressed differently. One panders to one extreme, the other panders to the other extreme. No one seems to be able to find a middle ground. It's sad really. |
