Yeah, loved Naz when he was with us but at the time I was also done with him making dumb mistakes at important times! That said, in fairness, I think the NHL was tougher on the Leafs/Naz, than they would have been with say Marchand/Bruins. I’m afraid with his age and the water under the bridge, Naz’s time with TO has come and gone. Well, unless it’s a straight Naz for Reilly!? Or maybe Cowan/Reilly for Naz and Anderson. Hmmmm!! |

Last year "the hockey experts" said the Flames would be the worst team in the league. They misssed the playoffs due to a tie breaker. |

Don't see a real fit at all and honestly with that salary/contract and given his age would say pass. I would certainly not be giving up Cowan either. At this point Leafs trying to move out Kampf and Jarnkrok and should/are focusing in a top 6 winger. We dont have a whole lot of real solid prospects/picks/tradeable assets.
Knies - Matthews - ????
Domi - Tavares - Nylander
McMann - Roy - Laughton
Pezzetta - Lorentz - Macelli
Cowen
McCabe - Reilly
Carlo - Ekman-Larsson
Benoit - Tanev
Myers
Woll
Stolarz
Tradables : Robertson, Kampf, Jarnkrok, Reaves |

I was always a Kadri fan. Teams need grit to win in the playoffs.
Some folks in Toronto miss Kadri. Colorado discovered soon enough how important he was in their big playoff run and Stanley Cup win.
Next season Florida will stumble through the regular season and enter the playoffs with the same cast as this year's Cup winner. Nobody will discount them or want to face them in the first round.
There are not a lot of high end players able to combine skill and grit.
I am a huge fan of the grinding game played by Pierre Lac Dubois. He got a bad wrap in LA but had a great follow up this past season with Washington. Is there another PLD out there that is primed for a change and a breakthrough season?

Still prefer an upgrade 1st line but hey, not looking bad at all. Think Robertson is hone though. He wants a trade. Odds are we move hom Id say. |

You think it's not looking bad with Domi in the first line?
I think it looks pretty bad. Also, Jarnkrok is awful. |

Jarnkrok will be the easy sell tho, after the bonus on July 1st he’s only going to cost league minimum. A team like SJ/Anaheim/Chicago will happily take on his $2.1 mill cap hit for the $775K cost since they’re at the floor or under it and shoot a pick over for the cheap 1 year remaining. |

NHL agent Allan Walsh says he projects the salary cap to be around $120M for 2027-2028.
That's an increase of about $25M on the current cap ($95.5M).
If true, getting players locked in to long-term contracts (6+ years) now will give teams a major advantage.
Plenty of room for Kadri's contract. |

Considering its start of july and they are looking for a top 6 likely first line winger? Yeah in decent shape overall. Nothing is set and done yet, so is Domi going to be on first line wing in all actuality?!
Agree on Jarnkrok but he likely isnt gonna be here to worry about by the end of it all |

Just say no to Naz
Unload Kampf
Keep cap space, wait until the trade deadline and take someone’s salary dump
We realistically need two top line players at this point if we want to take a run at Florida… make them big and mean… |

We don't need two top line players. That's nonsense. Maccelli is a good fit for a playmaker to play along side 34 and his defensive numbers are pretty good considering he was on Utah.
Kadri makes a lot of sense: cup winner, hometown fav, has zero problem playing in this market and has toned it down, so won't be getting into suspension trouble in the playoffs like before. He's still good to put up 60+ points or more depending on usage.
In his final couple of years, the cap is skyrocketing, so that 7M will look like ~5M today, and he's been durable and I can see him being useful depth in his final years.
And we're in win now mode, like right now. We have a couple more years of this group and an aging D core, so it's time. |

The Leafs need to figure out a way to jettison Rielly into the sun. |

Not sure what other options are out there though and trading him now while his value is low means we're probably going to have to retain or take back a cap dump. |

Nah. There's no way the Leafs would have to retain on Rielly's salary in a trade.
Plenty of options out there. |
