I knew we would eventually lose, but this is one we should have won and held it together for. |

Would you trade Schneider? If we did we could get that elusive 1st line RW couldn’t we? Or perhaps Jenner(JD fist pump remember? )
Gus can play the right side and Jones can at least play a regular shift. Seems as though the pair have kind of struggled together tho. Jones probably couldn’t get much return, but Braden could. Id hate to give him up, but maybe they have a more pressing need up front. Gustafson has given them a lot of options emerging like he has, especially playing both sides comfortably
Jenner for Schneider may actually work for both teams. Jenner has to be willing to leave there I’d think, and JD loves Schneider as we know. The Rangers top 4 D are really among the best in the NHL so they really don’t need much from a 3rd pair. Worst case you make a deal at the deadline for a L or RHD, ala Niko Mikkola. Jenner gives you insurance at center also with Chytils apparent lengthy absence, so makes it a better deal for us.
Idk just thinking that maybe Schneider is the one to go 🤔
New first line -
Bread - Trocheck (becoming a bargain) - Laf
Cuylle - Zib - Kakko (I’d give it a look like someone mentioned…”kid line with an adult” ) he just had a baby maybe it’s good luck lol
Kreider (maybe it is time for CK20 to get a reduced role) - Jenner ( or Bonino)- Vesey (deserves more ice time)
New 4th line-Goodrow -Bonino-Pitlick/Wheeler
(I think it’s clear that Wheeler isn’t good enough anymore for a top 9 role)
I’ve looooooved what I’ve seen from Vesey. He may be one of our better 5 on 5 forwards, so him on the 4th line needs to change imo. Wheeler is the one who needs to move down. He’d probably be a perfect 4th liner anyway. He just seems to have a bit of an ego where he wouldn’t want to do that
———
What worries me the most is they’re very reliant on 4 things: power play, one line, goaltending (eventually) and the D structure. Not worried in the least about those things but there are holes in this roster that we can’t ignore. I want to win it this year before the Devils get really good. I worry we won’t have enough scoring like the Hank era. We need another forward asap, and/or guys (“kids”) need to step up. Up front were short handed I get it, but they need address it prior to the TDL imo. Chytil probably should go on LTIR and when the cap space is available, boom you make a trade. It will put the questions to bed when he’s coming back, and if he can do anything in the playoffs great. Next year see how he’s doing and in the meantime get away from hockey and get the care he needs. He may not play again and that would really suck but we need a plan B in case. |

One of the other issues is on defense. Gustafsson has been great filling in for Fox, but Jones is awful. He was -3 in 13:00 minutes of ice time. One goal when he was manhandled in front of the net and another poor read. Yes he can make a good pass but what good is that when he is a liability. Miller wasn’t great but we definitely need a boost on the 3rd pair. |

Jones is good as a 7th D not an every game guy. It’s too bad he’s not a forward because he has good offensive instincts. I feel like he could be Tony Deangelo someday without the “news making” lol but you’re right, manhandled is a good word…HE. IS. TOO. SMALL. Been saying it since the first game he was out there. He literally looks like a child vs men out there |

The other issue with trading Schneider is he doesn’t immediately free up cap space. It would probably have to be K’Andre, as he would get a better return and free up space. I’m not advocating for this. As bad as he’s looked at times he’s still got so many elite level skills, it would be foolish to give that up |

Watched the post podcast with Boyle and Brooks yesterday. They hit the nail on the head about how teams win in the playoffs. We are unfortunately not going to win it all without Zib playing like a true #1 centre (and not a borderline 2/3 C), and our forwards being unable to get to the front of the net/dmen unable to control the front of the net.
We could make some noise of course, but when push comes to shove in the conference and cup finals rounds, that's where we would lose to elite teams like Dallas. |

I feel like he’d be fine in sheltered minutes with a highly dependable defensive defenseman and getting pp time. Not sure that’s going to be with us. Schneider isn’t there yet defensively |

I mean just split them. We've been saying that for weeks.
79-56
55-4
6-8.

A trade like Jenner would be only if they get cap relief from Chytil LTIR. Cap friendly takes the whole cap hit off but idk if that really happens. |

I love Schneider don’t get me wrong, but he’s not getting into the top 4 pair unless a number of things happen. He hasn’t even made it with a Fox injury. Point being, if they dealt him Gus can be the right side 3rd pair guy so they really wouldn’t miss a beat there. Jones sucks I get it, but they can find a LH 3rd pair anywhere in the league really. Signing Gus could be Drurys best move in his tenure so far (granted Lavy being hired probably got him here so cheap)

Fair. Not limiting it to Jenner, but I think trading Schnieder may be the lesser of the evils, as opposed to Othmann for example. Because chances are they make a trade that makes us squirm a bit lol |

JD likes Schneider, the fist pump heard around the world remember?
And didn’t you say yesterday we need a forward? if Drury called JD right now and said hey wanna do this trade? I think they’d talk it out. Cbj is going nowhere for a few years and Schneider could be a core piece for them. Jenner is already 30 yrs old |

JD would make us squirm for sure, doing everything he can to screw Dolan.
Trade for Jenner starts with Schneider, then add maybe another player and a pick. I'd love to land him, he's on my fantasy team and would definitely be a big improvement. JD is in no rush to move him early though unless he gets a really good offer. |

Yes I said we need a Center if Chytil is out long term. We dont know yet. We need depth on D if we are going to make a deep run. Plus in 2 years when Trouba is a FA Schneider will only be 24/25. We need him to continue to develop.
What we need is to get Zib and CK20 scoring at 5v5. Whether they find the touch or break them up. It needs to be done soon so they can figure out what piece we need to add for the playoffs.
Besides the Jackets are a mess now, I can see them hiring a new coach before they move players. |
