It’s early… I think Christian Fischer has more to show. I can see Perron taking a discount. |

Very possible on Christian. Also have to keep in mind prospects that org may want to move up. Rough spot. Agree on Perron. Has skills he can teach on creating space |

The only "buzz" about Kane is that Florida is pursuing him hard. |

detroits biggest problem is the goal tending. they need to find a franchise goalie. |

We all know Husso is going to start at least one of the games in Sweden. So we may as well be down 2-0 before the game even starts. He averages a couple soft goals most nights. I hope Reimer is in goal against Toronto on Friday. That might give us a chance at least. Not convinced yet that Cossa is the goalie of the future... he's been less than average in GR so far this season splitting duties with Hutchinson (who has better numbers).

All I’ve seen is that and his refusal to take the $1m that NYR was hoping he’d take (no coupons) |

He wants to win another Cup, that basically eliminates any possibility he'll be a Wing or slim possibility he'll be a Sabre.
Panthers makes the most sense. |

I agree. They’re my top pick. I think they can move out enough $ |

Extend Perron, great player & mentor, does thing with the puck that create chances that weren't there. He's good, really good. Sprong's an awesome get, extend him....he's young, has great vision, great shot, and he can throw the body around. Fischer? I'm not sure yet. If he doesn't come out of his shell, I think someone from GR will. Although, GR is a dumpster fire right now, so who knows? Czarnik's an interesting one; gets dirty, wins battles down low, pretty solid defensive forward....and he chips in with some well-placed passes the just so happen to find the twine, jury's out. Reimer....welp, given the crappy G situation (which has been well-documented on this blog), he's probably gonna stay for another year. Unless The Captain swings for the fences with a Cecil Fielder roof-clearing blast, G is gonna be a pain-point.
FL may be the front-runner, but are "potential" and The Cat enough? I honestly think BUF's not that big of a draw, but MAYBE a tick better the we are. We need scoring dudes, but we don't know how he's gonna perform. For me, package the $$ for Kane with Bergy +++ (throw in your own guesses/proposals....) and get some dang G support. |

Kane has already met with Trono and plans on meeting with 7 other teams including Detroit. |

With Stars, Canes, Panthers and Trono on the "list", I bet you he never meets with Detroit.
Now add Tampa Bay Lightning to the list. |

They do, and are hoping they’re developing one. This is just an exercise in expiring contracts. Depending on where Detroit is down the stretch, I could see a contender grabbing Reimer as a backup |

WELP, all bets are off: Tage Thompson is out for "significant time" with a hand/arist injury.
Kane will go to BUF.

Gostisbehere probably will not be back. Yes, he is effective in the O zone and PP, but, at -6, he is the worst on the team in the +/- ratings. It's tough to hide a defenseman like that, especially if Detroit makes the playoffs. |

I would not be too quick to judge a player based solely on unadjusted plus-minus through 14 games. Plus-minus is notoriously flukey and sensitive to luck/bounces/things outside of a player's direct control, especially over just a handful of games.
Case in point, Detroit goalies are .901 at 5-on-5 with Ghost on the ice this year. That's the lowest on-ice save percentage among Detroit defenders by far (Seider has the next-lowest at .908). And while you might be tempted to blame that on Gostisbehere's defensive play, we've known for a long time that individual defenders have next to no consistent, repeatable ability to impact on-ice save percentage over long timeframes. Ghost himself has had played in front of .906, .909, .912, .896, and .922 goaltending in his on-ice 5-on-5 minutes over the last five seasons.
I think Ghost is fine, and one of the least concerning things about our current defense. Offensive minded second pair defender who is paid pretty much exactly appropriately for what he provides. Maybe he's a little below average defensively but in terms of expected goals share at 5-on-5 he's typically been a little above average for the teams he's played on, plus he can play the PP. |

If I’m not mistaken, you don’t get a + for scoring on the power play. We have 2 other lefty Dmen that may be scrambling if Edvinsson can take a step forward. I haven’t heard a tremendous amount of positivity about GR right now, but I think it will get better as the year goes on.

I don't think Perron, Ghost and Sprong will return. The team needs to make room for Eddy and a couple young forwards next season. |

Per DETHOCKEYNOW:
"Coach Derek Lalonde announced that James Reimer will play Thursday against Ottawa and probably Alex Lyon will play Thursday against Toronto, although that is not definite. As Detroit’s No. 3 goalie, Lyon has not played a game this regular-season."
This is exactly why Lyon should have gotten a conditioning stint in GR or at least a game or two in with Detroit. He's going to get shelled against Toronto and he's not had any game time. I'd still take him over Husso though.

Normally, I'd agree but right now anything remotely associated with GR is a train-wreck. No one's showing enough to be considered for promotion to the big club.now, MAYBE in the off-season there may be a change. Personally, I say retain all 3 for another year so the kids can develop. And heck, if one of the kids surpriseswe could waive/trade I guess. |

Yup, he needed ice time. Now he gets thrown to the wolves. Not that TRONO is a beast, but having those guys bearing done on him left n right.....don't think much good's gonna come out of that at all. |

But, ya know what? If we implode, who's to say a kid or2wouldn't make it? Who knows. I'm frustrated, but this IS a good team; just need a G, aD, a C....an F.....dang, looks like my high school transcripts!!!! |
