Just 4 weeks and 4 days away from the beginning of the draft. All the speculation as to who to draft and what trades will be made (at least at the draft) will be over and we will begin debate on how brilliant or horrible we think the moves were. Until then, here’s hoping for another 2 good games between Dallas and LV and then maybe an exciting 7 games for the Cup.
Bill, do you think the Flyers move Sanheim? Doesn’t he have a no trade clause kicking in on July 1? |

Bill Meltzer: Quick Hits: Worlds, Hart, Flyers Daily, TIFH - bmeltzer
Morning Bill few questions for you:
1. What was Danny's involvement in the Sanheim ext? Was he on board?
2. Was Danny really he main driver on signing Nic D?
3. Where did Danny stand on the Tony D trade? Was he for it?
4. Any thoughts/opinions on Attard only getting into 4 games? You think he is in the starting 6 come October?
5. Any Euro free agents from these games the flyer have any interest in? |
|
|
|
Briere's comments on Hart could be said on any Flyer. |

Lavy to the Rags? The NHL sure likes recycling coaches. Lavy actually has a shorter shelf life than Torts. Teams get a one or two year burst after they hire him and then it's quickly all down hill from there. The Rags are desperate! |

Briere need to take calls on any players we have.
York, Tippett i wouldnt move. Need to see what we have in these players.
Provorov, Sanheim i move at the draft for late 1st round picks and prospects.
Hayes, I eat 2 mil per to make him a tradeable asset.
Farabee, TK I listen to offers on but the return needs to be top 10 draft picks +.
Coots, atkinson both will be healthy so move them and get picks back.
Hart only gets moved for top 10 pick and elite prospect, thinking LA CBrandt + 1st.
In short blow it up and build it back up the right way.
This team is going no where for at least five years, so build it back up with players in the same age range. Next five years the only goal should be to acquire as many picks as possible and draft high end players. |

Could be and should be said. The Flyers should listen to offers on any player. Obviously, some are more available than others. |

I don't think Sanheim’s contract is movable this offseason. Yes, his no trade kicks in on July 1. Also receives a $3 million signing bonus check on July 1. |

1. Yes. But he had nothing to do with the term and structure.
2. I don't know about the main driver but he is a believer that teams need a player of that type, believing they benefited his own career.
3. No idea.
4. I think Quinn did a generally mediocre coaching job with Team USA personnel management. Not just Attard. Torts opined that he likes Attard but thinks he is still fairly raw as a defender. So we will see.
5. Sami Kapanen will have say in that along with Brent Flahr. This was far from the most talent laden of Worlds.

I like Lavy but you said it...the pattern with him has been pretty consistent.

Lavy knows the metro division well. If he goes to the Rags, he'll have coached 5/8 metro division teams. Only needs Pitt, NJ and CBJ for the cycle. |

You aren't trading either one of them with those contracts. It just ain't happening. And how do you know that both Coots and Atkinson will be healthy? There is absolutely no way of knowing this right now.

He is mistaken in the belief of needing that kind of player. I hope this is not indicative of the kind of GM he is going to be. Not confidence building. |

1, Agree, no player should be untouchable.
2.I don't think there is any chance in hell the Flyers get a first or Prospects for Sanheim with that contract. They could possibly get a 1st and a prospect for Provorov but the picking will be limited due to need and availability.
3.I eat as much as 50% on Hayes depending on the return.
4.Farabee and Konecny for top 10 draft picks...Im not sure which teams that have top 10 draft picks are in a position to want to trade for Farabee. Possibly Konecny, but again, a team in a top 10 draft position probably isn't in the market for either of them IMO.
5. No guarantee Coots or Atkinson are healthy. Atkinson most certainly will be moved at the deadline. Coots, with that cap hit and more importantly that term, is not going anywhere. Add in his 10 team trade list and I think they will have a hard time finding a partner.
6. Again, I wouldn't move Hart unless it was for a high pick and prospect. Im just not sure most of those teams picking in the top 10 are in a position to deal. LA certainly isn't that team since they don't even have a first round pick this year and are very likely to not be in the top 10 next year.
Im with you that they need to blow it up.

Just waiting? No. The Flyers organization will not get any benefit of the doubt from me until they earn it. That Briere would be onboard with the acquisition of Deslauriers, is troubling. |
