Todd Cordell: Calgary Flames: January's three stars of the month

Is Treliving's job safe if the Flames don't make the playoffs this year? I don't mean miss them like L.A. and Anaheim are going to miss them, I mean miss a wildcard spot by a point or two.
The reason I ask is that if Taylor Hall really does want to come to Calgary in the off-season, would having a new GM here change Taylor's mind any? A new GM means that the core players are all a-feared for their jobs, and more instability is not what Hall wants to get into, I wouldn't think.
I think that Tre wants and could get a deal done with Taylor Hall, but I'm not sure another GM here would be as keen or have as much luck.

Who’s job is it? It brad waiting for Ward to ask and is ward waiting for brad to bring him
up? Makes zero sense to me why he isn’t in the lineup.

Tre was just extended in October, I think his job is pretty safe. Having to relieve a coach the way the Peters fiasco went down wasnt Trelivings fault. Granted some would argue Peters shouldnt have had the job & got out-coached in the playoffs, that argument isnt on the table.

Czarnik is not the answer. He did amazing in the AHL when he was with the Bruins & with us but his game doesnt translate consistently at the NHL level. Czarnik is not the top 6 we need.

Czarnik was just starting to show improved point production before his injury...it might be worth giving him another look with his current hot streak in the AHL

you never know, he may revert back to just non-productive potential
but I think it's worth a shot

He doesn’t need to play top 6. He is a right shot who can play the wing and can put the puck in the net. He was playing great before his injury. We can’t score and are in desperate needs of right handed wingers. Let’s keep he buried in the minors while he lights it up and we plug in guys like Rieder and Rinaldo...makes sense

Breathing a bit of life into this team from the bottom 6 would be nice. I'm a bit surprised he hasn't been recalled. Maybe they're trying to move someone to make room.

seems simple to me. Maybe I’m missing something.

I am lukewarm on Czarnik, but I agree another try couldn't hurt in the bottom-6 given what the other guys are doing. I don't think he's our top-6 solution.

Not an upgrade to the top-6 but absolutely would be to the bottom-6. He's better than Lucic, Janko, Rieder, and Rinaldo without a doubt.
