NY Post says Isles could trade pick:
http://www.nypost.com/p/s...ng_67aMKYlqKDAX9rLxP6SO5M - jimbro83
From the article it looks like Garth has been reading our posts. He said they are looking to bring in 3 defensemen with NHL experience and move either Donovan, deHaan or Katic up out of camp if they have a good training camp. Wondering if they are trying to pry Yandle away from Phoenix. Rumor is Yandle is available. I think they want either Forsburg or Yakupov but probably are gone so thats when they might trade the pick... |

The fact that there are even rumors suggest that Garth is actually doing some talking this year. The last few years, especially with John Tavares, there was little to no talk about the Isles camp, and it was shown through Garth's selection in the draft. I am going to agree that the Isles are more than open to trading their first round pick this year, and they are definitely looking for some defensive help (but then again, so is every team in the league). If the Isles are unsuccessful in finding a good trade for a defenseman, then they will definitely move down (in the same method they did with Josh Bailey, moving down from 5 to 7 while accumulating picks and then from 7 to 9). Either way, I think Isles fans have reason to think this will be a busier draft day than most for us. |

I just wonder if Phoenix really has any interest in trading Yandle, simply from a cap perspective.
They are well below cap floor and Yandle is virtually the only guy on the team who makes any money.
If the Isles trade #4 I think it will be to a more cap strapped team, IMO |

I'm pretty open to options today.
Probably in this order....
1. Parlay the 4th pick, roster player, and some prospects for a top 2 defenceman.
2, Draft any of the following @ # 4...... Murray, Forsberg, Gally.
3. Trade up for Yakupov. (@ the right price.)
4. Or move down a couple spots and take Reinhart.
Big day for Isles fans.
Big day for these kids...
I watched the TSN Draft Preview show last night.... Makes me want Murray even more. The kid is steady, a leader, and will be a very good defenceman for a long time in the NHL.
I think Edmonton will take him now.... and they should!!!! |

I have to say it's nice to hear Garth talk about trades. Hopefully a nice trade gets made. Isles have the picks and prospects to fill some holes. |

Katic gone.. signed in Europe. I could see Donovan AND DeHaan on the team this year. |

Catching up on yesterday posts..
SCLI- I like your trade Idea but I don't think it is enough to get #3 pick. If you include the Isles taking Gomez contract too (Ok, PA rights, Late round pick)... that would probably get it done. I don't see it happening though.. this is the highest pick Habs have had since 1980. They are pretty excited about the pick. I don't see them moving it... probably will have a milliion people watching the draft. (They are having a party next to Bell Centre for draft)
Habs more likely to trade something to get a pick instead... (again I am praying for PK.. ) |

I expect Garth to do something..... IMO he will aim for something big.. Move up to 1, trade for PK, Weber, etc. and if he can't get that done will settler for smaller moves (sorry but Komi is def. an option...). I don't see us trading down for picks.

Why Komi....
Useless!!!!
If they want to get to the cap floor... trade for Luongo, and trade Nabby to Toronto, or Chicago, etc...!!!

Jordan Staal turning down 10 year deal from Pittsburgh... wow. How do u guys feel about him. I keep going back and forth... he is very very young and has had 6 years in the league. HE is very big (bigger than both brothers).. and has been very productive... BUT is that b/c he was on the 3rd line while the first 2 lines had Sid and Geno?
It sounds like he is going to Carolina... but I am curious what everyones thoughts are on him. |

Luongo is going to cost a ton... he is an Elite talent.. not just a sallary dump. Komi is a long island kid (he and Higgins working out in Syossett this week by the way).. he is BIG, can Hit and fight....and Toronto would be willing to give up something to take his contract off their hands. |

I really hope we do not trade down for more picks. We need NHL ready talent not more draft picks. |

Big, and can't fight.... horrible hockey player @ this stage of his career!!!
Unless we are getting a decent draft pick for him... I'm not interested.
@ last a third rounder. |

I would love to get Staal cannot see Pitt trading within the division. While I would love for the Isles to get a star I'll be very happy if we fill some holes with solid players. |

He's a year from unrestricted free agency, and just turned down a 10-year deal with a much better team. I'd love to have him as a second-line center behind Tavares. He gets it done in all three zones, and with Tavares, Staal, Nielsen and Cizikas down the middle, that's a heck of a lot of complete centers. But it'd be a catastrophically dumb move for the Isles to make given his contract situation. No way he sticks around after this season, and for what it'd take to pry him out of Pittsburgh, it'd be one of those really bad deals we'd still be talking about a decade later. |

Dee Karl: It's Here! It's Here! Draft Day is HERE!
All the guessing games end tonight when we find out what the Isles do with their pick. - Dee Karl
who ever you guys draft is going to be a very good player in the NHL if they are developed properly and you guys should be excited about whoever you draft
remember if its a defenseman (which it should be IMO) it takes them longer to reach their potential, around 25 |

Good reason to pick a forward.... then trade for a NHL ready defenceman? |
